I'm an amateur painter. I work hard to develop and create paintings that speak both to me and others about beauty that exists in the ruins of ancient society. Part of my process before I begin painting is to read/feel and understand as much as I can about specific sets of ruins I am about to recreate and create on my canvas. I do not merely want to capture the image with my brushes; rather with careful, colorful strokes, but to give that society life once more. I try with every finished work to breathe life into a long-forgotten culture so that it's designs, ideas, innovations and lifestyle are displayed on my canvas. The challenge, as with any recreated and created moments from the past and the present is to not caricature the moment and instead captures it in all it's former glory with a touch of fantasy. My artwork speaks not only for me, but for people who were long ago silenced.
