Since when being an otaku meant watching the most anime? No! You watch anime because you enjoy it, Not this competitive spree bragging about how many animes you've watched and thinking you're like some Don off the Godfather.

yeah i agree but watching certain stuff doesnt make you an otaku...for example just watching naruto or one piece doesnt make you one

Yeah! I can understand that, Don't forget that people have to start somewhere and continue on. Same for us 90s and 80s and 70s people.

yeah i understand but when you come saying your an otaku when all you watch is naruto and havent even tried watching anything else...thats not WAY POPULAR then i dont consider you an otaku

I think being an otaku is being a nerd for anime and manga. I didn't really begin to consider myself an anime nerd when I was just watching Black Butler and knew nothing about Naruto (or any other show) except it was a ninja show. Now I consider myself almost an otaku because a hefty part of my budget goes to buying manga and merchandise and entire days of anime.

yeah i buy anime merch sometimes but there are people way more dedicated than me who cant afford to buy stuff like that
