How many genders are identified?

red_king
That's as far as the argument can go. An argument over definitions is unwinnable. x). I don't know if definitions are changeable, usually they aren't but then again definitions are how people perceive the word. I would call a transgender person he/she because I think it is possible to mentally feel like you are the opposite gender. I feel like any more than that though is just dumb. Calling yourself gender fluid just because you "sometimes" feel like a girl or boy? That occurs for most people I know myself included and it is just a feeling, not really an entire gender.

Also if you are transgender you aren't really a seperate gender, you are a male transitioning to a female or vice versa. There are still only 2 genders :)

well definitions are created by people for words and as people change so do the definition for those words i cant agree with that agender is just a feeling as i myself do not identify with it so i dont know
momoichi
while that is true, why i brought up the transgender discussion was because you said gender resides soley in the groined, when it truly resides in the brain
red_king
if that is the case then definitions are different for different individuals. people can have a split between certain definitions so it can never be officially one word. OR you can just make it much easier by looking at the official definitions of the word as it is a much better grounds for discussion using those words. Arguments on topics such as this comes down to just different opinions on a definition of the same word.

You misunderstood me, I said Gender is biological, so it does rely on the groin and the hormones it produces.
momoichi
well everything comes down to perception and opinion, facts are pretty much just popular opinions debates are about trying to sway said persons opinion in your direction :P
momoichi
but groin and hormones dont always agree with one another
red_king
I guess I can agree with you on that. Semantic change in definitions does exist and so it does depend on popular opinions. Definitions that are relatively controversial could also mean multiple things. You can't sway my personal definition but I will agree to disagree haha.
momoichi
truly it is quite pointless to 'debate' (more like arguing) with someone online would take someone being open to changing opinions but thats never how it happens i like to think of it as the wife swap affect each family is thinking "i can show them a better way" and neither being open to a new way themsevles
