''Perfect'' Endings

jasonthedude
I don't know if this thread should be here or somewhere else, but I really need to vent for a bit, so bare with me here. I just finished watching the final episode of my favourite anime/game series. It had a ''perfect'' good ending, with everyone being happy and people that died, coming back and yada yada yada. It didn't fit the series at all, it was too happy dappy shit. I hate it when a game, anime, TV series, movie, book or what not, ends ''perfectly''/good just for the sake of playing it safe and getting a quick buck. Sure, it CAN end good, but at least make it like it's supposed to happen like this. Bittersweet endings are way more powerful in my opinion, because they give a somewhat good ending, but the characters also look back at like how terrible shit is/was and how many people have dead for example. The fact that not every problem is solved now, is way more realistic and feels better, damn even bad endings are way more impactful and mean way more. It makes it so you will not forget the piece of media that quickly. Anyways, this is MY opinion. What are your opinions ?

I haven't watched it in awhile but I don't remember the anime having a happy ending as most died. At least the first one. I'm currently watching a play through of the 2nd one vn/game before watching the 3rd one in anime.

There's an anime called Dangan ronpa 3, which basically wraps up or ''tries'' to wrap up the entire story line of the Hope's Peak Academy saga. It has two Arcs, Despair Arc is set in the past and Future Arc in the present, but there's the special episode called Kibou Hen(Hope side) which totally wraps up the story and that last one is what I'm talking about

In my opinion if bad endings always happen it shows how little imagination human beings have to change things for the better. My definition of "better" would be population and human life stability along with international emotional understanding. Basically what I want is a "utopia" like what the preamble of the United States constitution states. But human emotions get in the way of that. Everyone wants something different or doesn't like something about a certain someone. Read my profile, I bet you'll find something you don't like about me lol. And most adults call me childish for liking what I like or want what I want. It's easy to counter something with your own opinion or values yet still no one knows the purpose for life. Again you can counter with your own opinions/values lol.

I never said that bad endings should ALWAYS happen. What I mean is, I'd like for people to use them more often. Happy endings are easy, everybody can write a happy ending, sure it CAN still be difficult to execute a really good one, but it's way easier. Bittersweet or even bad endings require thought, a lot of thought. Most people like to live in a dream like state in which only being happy is ''right'' or ''good''. People should embrace their sad feelings and their dark side more.

I know what you mean. In my experience I've seen to many bittersweet endings or bad things. I'm seeking more perfect or happy endings now because the bittersweet is making me very depressed. Trying to balance out both though, not just one.

I am the complete opposite of you. Not that I don't understand you, I do(in some sense), but it appears we will not agree on this one. Ah well, we don't have to, of course.
