They didn't get sick from the rats, well not most of them. They had outbreaks of E.coli, but they never determined which of their products caused it. The FDA (Food Drug Administration) believes it came from their produce, while Chipotle themselves thought it came from contaminated Australian beef. It was more of a supply issue that they kept getting hit with than their own hygiene. The rat story is just salt in the wound.

*shivers* Maybe, it's advantageous to cook for themself all the time.. but I must be careful to eat outside for some reason. Very pity about that restaurant chain. Here in Germany, we'd a "little scandal" with Burger King.
