Actually, mind machine interface is quite possible and in the works. But, at what point do you lose your humanity? It's kind of like asking at what point do machines become sentient beings?

It may be cheaper, but I think cyborgs or the ability to save your mind to a computer will be possible because no one wants to die. There will always be someone working on a way to cheat death. That's partly why vampires are so romanticised.

@ Manga_bird I'm not sure about people not wanting to die well nearly everyone doesn't, some people do because some people don't feel the need to live any more. However do you believe there could be robots built that look like other people like say built to look like a famous person? as in what happen in the film Metropolis ?

I guess it would be possible, but I'd assume those types would be black-market goods or copyrighted to the original people, otherwise everyone would want to be Jonny Depp etc.
