Suspending an account because of a few reports won't be a good idea. Who will stop the 'trolls' from just making multiple accounts and reporting actual users?

Reporting doesn't automatically mean ban. The messages are checked first to make sure.

Well, I was referring to the 'automatically suspending an account' statement posted earlier in the thread. If it's automatic, then actual users will get suspended and won't be able to make use of all the site's features until an administrator sees that they didn't do anything wrong and removes the automatic suspension. I don't know where the trolling you guys have been talking about recently is happening. Doesn't seem to be on the forum, unless I'm just completely missing it or the threads are being removed. If there is harassment via messages or wallposts, then there should be a 'block user' feature so you don't see any of it. Downside to that is people will just change their IP and make a new account and you would be forced to block people all the time. Would be better to add a setting that allows you to only receive posts to your wall from people you've accepted as a friend.

Yes, of course. But we're all saying the same things here, you see. Were powerless to do anything unless the big boss gets involved however...

The thought with the auto suspend is that when a person get a specific amount of reports (from a specific amount of different users) they get suspended until they're looked over. But as I now can see that we have ANOTHER on this page (seriously! 3rd troll! ;_;) I'm falling towards accepting more moderators if he feels like adding them x-x It's getting out of hand! 3 trolls in a short amount of time now (I have my suspicions that the latest one is the same as the previous one but I may be wrong.

Tbh I'm not completely against it, but just giving out that kind of power over the website could be doing as much bad as good. You know, the whole misuse of power thing. @ donnierye, I believe in the block user feature. I mean, you can do it on facebook. Why not here. @ Espr you make a good point too. But you could get a lot of bs reports from people who hate you for no reason or reports from nothing but trolls and then you'd be suspended until someone decides to handle the matter. All that time you'd spend penalized for reports you'd have no knowledge about and waiting on someone to look it over and you'd be innocent and unable to talk to your friends on the website. That would suck. I may or may not be missing some points and feel free to tell me, but I believe we should add features to help safeguard a page and make it easier for people to have fun on the website.

The all mighty"mute" button or "block" button. Its been in use for nearly a decade on gaming clans sites in case of troll rampage. This site could benefit from it. Or the "you can only message me if you are on my friends list" access as well. If you dont want that person messagng you, you just remove friend. There are other solutions, but mods tend to also help when threads get out of hand as well is the only other benefit. Normally the best mods are the older(time wise) more level headed members of the site. The reason being that the older ones already have a group of people who will listen to them being their friends. Also if sephiroth does introduce a messaging app to the site, he will be most likely be forced to get mods to avoid spamming as well as trolls.

While this site is still small, it may be not obvious right away that mods are needed, but soon enough, when this site becomes popular, you will see many trolls, spam bots, and other unwanted posts coming along, and the owner's gonna be too busy to monitor the forums regularly, leaving the forums look messy and run-down, and as a for profit site, this is very bad for the reputation. Mod abuse is probably the least of the worries, because it's really easy to tell if a mod is abusing the power, and that mod can be fired ASAP if they cause problems.
