What's the story of your first anime?

Well, I started off with Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh, but after that I joined the anime society at university and my first there was Ghost in the Shell.

^ Similar, except I started watching anime on my own later. The first was the Law of Ueki, followed by School Rumble and Card Captor Sakura. Lost track after that.

Like most people, I started off with Pokemon, Digimon, and whatever else was being aired on TV. The first series I actually watched from beginning to end was the OG Rozen Maiden back in the day.

Akira, in my late teens I think. Before most of you were born.

Watched "Zoids" on TV. Didn't know much of it being an anime. Later I streamed it online and then got into other anime.

Had to have been Vampire Hunter D or Fist of the North Star. What draws in a young pre-teen more than ultra violence? I remember loving the Mortal Kombat games at the time too.

Dragonball Z was my first anime, I first saw it on Toonami and would spend my evenings during my middle school years watching it with my dad.

Well officially it was pokemon but i think it actually dates back to when i was little. I saw an anime from the 80s of the wizard of oz on vhs. Also i saw the sonic the movie on vhs. I liked it and thought the fight against metal sonic was cool. The music was tasty. When i was little though i didnt understand japanese animation and thought it looked too choppy. This was my first reaction to both robotech and knights of the zodiac. It wasnt until pokemon that i really followed a story in an anime but it wasnt until toonami that i learned it was called that. I seriously thought it was called japanamation or japanese cartoons from reading magazines about it. Different times before the internet, i tell you. Toonami set me straight. Everything that was awesome about anime in a single afternoon block. 4kids may have introduced me, but toonami refined my taste for it. Plus it showed alot of cool shows from america and canada also.

I grew up watching anime, I watched Dragonball Z, Pokemon, Yugioh all of that. I just never put together that these weren't American made. When I was in elementary, I had a bully and he was a fan of this show called "Naruto". I didn't have cable so I had no idea what a "Naruto" was. Years later, I spent my time in the school library alone. Looking through the books, one title stood out to me. IT WAS NARUTO. As I was reading the manga, I found myself relating the most with the orange ninja himself. Much like Naruto, I didn't have many friends myself and my parents weren't really around either. Although, Naruto always puts his friends before himself and always came through. So in a way, Naruto was my hero and I wanted to be more like him. So about 8 more years later, I'm here now enjoying my lazy otaku lifestyle. Btw I'm not an obsessed weaboo I SWEAR lol.

My friend in highschool got me into Sailor moon, then I think Pokemon and DBZ followed shortly after and I had an unhealthy obsession with the Lodoss War anime. Just went from there really.
