Deciding on Anime

ladysweetnightmare
@neetone: Haha! I don't blame you. The normal high school boy or girl thing is a pretty overused cliche.

@ladysweetnightmare: Yeah it really is. Stuff like that and harem anime too which I forgot to mention. They get to be so tired and predictable once you've seen so many. Although to be fair, sometimes it's possible to embrace how horribly cliche a show is and just roll with it and have fun. Good example would be Infinite Stratos, I hated that show for the first 3 or so ep as it was a generic as hell harem anime but once I accepted it for what it was I was really able to enjoy myself with it.

@neetone: Nah, I totally agree with you... I have those animes too. I'm usually a very picky person with my anime and a tough critique... Yet I still find myself reading crappy shoujo manga from time to time and fangirling despite the overused plot. I think Reimei No Arcana was one of my biggest guilty pleasure mangas... Very predictable and very sappy. I loved it all the same OTL

I usually decide it based on: Genre Story Critic Art

@ladysweetnightmare: yeah there's definitively a lot of guilty pleasures out there. Rio rainbow gate, neptunia, and akikan, come to mind as well to name a few. They were objectively horrible anime but great at the same time.

I usually base it off things like what my friends watch sometimes, what people consider to be good, or what I personally would like to watch. That or whatever the heck they show on toonami XD.

This is actually pretty simple. Most of the time, I will literally watch every new anime that comes out in a season, and give them two episodes to hook me. Its typically weeded out by then. As for older ones, I actually rely on friends to recommend anime they seen that I may not have....which is rare btw.. So if you got a recommendation, bring it on!

@fire_reaper31: Toonami will have some good anime sometimes. That's a good way to find something. @Talonvoren: Do you have a genre preference?
talonvoren
Hmmm, Preference eh? Would have to say Romance/slice of life perhaps would be what I seek out the most.
