Drastic Measures

As someone who prefers 2D over 3D, I can safely say this doesn't work... at all. Further more, I feel like women who do that sort of thing are missing the point.

"because I rub paint and clay all over my face most days" Is that what the kids do these days? I'll never understand these new fashion trends. XD An ex-girlfriend used to redo her makeup before bed "to look beautiful for you" until I told her how good she looked completely natural. No more makeup to bed after that.

I feel they're missing the point in trying be like anime girls by slapping on a gallon of makeup and calling it a day. There's more to it than just how they look. What makes those characters appealing isn't limited to just their physical appearance. It's the spirit of 2D characters that most people completely disregard. Even if it's only about the look, that's really not the way to go about it. I keep seeing people try to achieve 'the look' by drawing on themselves, but that's always gonna leave them looking like a person that drew on themselves ...and make them look like a cheap hooker in the process. If you really wanna look like an anime character, like as faithfully as possible, then you need to go with a kig with a mask. For some reason it seems like western people don't wanna accept this fact and instead paint themselves up and make themselves look horrifying in the process. more often than not it's western people who paint themselves and the Japanese who use masks. I think it comes from the sense of entitlement found in western people who think "I can look like that too!" when really they can't, It's physically impossible for them. You need a mask if you want that anime look, but a lot of women probably find wearing a mask insulting. As if they're admitting they're ugly or something when that's really not the issue. http://ayame-store.jp/images/sayu/R0015109.JPG kigurumi masks can easily be creepy too, but they're much more faithful to the look.

Ug those crazy girls again. The extra tiny one has been in a few stories "The Human Barbie". She's eastern European and kinda went off the radar for a bit after making some very racist comments at a Con a few years ago. She said people were getting uglier because of inter-racial breeding or something. She also supposedly had her lower ribs removed/altered to get the exra-tiny waist. Some have thought she has the same mental illness Michael Jackson did, Body dysmorphic disorder. They take a pretty picture but the living example of beauty being only skin deep.

@neet Ohh I understand what you were saying now! Yeah, I agree with you in that regard indeed. But I don't know if they want to become an anime character for the spirit of the medium or anything like that. Makeup is used not only to enhance qualities but to also take away the flaws you think you have. A lot of young girls in Japan (and other parts of the world) feel "naked" without putting on makeup. The youth of Japan wear fake eyelashes, contacts, concealer all over the face, etc. and that was the norm, especially since the start of the 80s during the gal types. Harajuku street fashion is all about individuality, which is why they were wigs and colored contacts because a majority of people who are nationally Japanese are also ethnically Japanese and usually have dark hair and dark eyes. Gals even began to tan their skin and bleach their hair, which go against Japanese standards of beauty which is ivory skin and dark hair. Just recently, Japanese girls and celebs are trying this whole "naked" makeup thing by not wearing fake eyelashes but mascara and using eyelash straighteners for a more "natural look" Makeup can bring about creativity but also have the connotation that you are insecure. Which can be true or combination of both. Makeup brings different than what a mask can. Darku has a point with most likely these girls have Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I don't even know if she likes anime or is an avid watcher like I am. It also isn't cosplay but her everyday wear so maybe masks wouldn't be the type of dedication she wants to give?
