A lot of people already said pretty great tips! Here's mine: "AVOID GETTING STRESSED". http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=53304

I'd say start out at a pace that pushes you but not kills you. Walking for an hour everyday will get you into a good rhythm. I'm not talking about "Hey I'm at work so walking around doing stuff here is my exercise" I mean get on a treadmill and like a speed of 3 or something. Again, don't kill yourself with a vigorous set if you're not used to it yet. Your goal is to get your body used to working out. When you can move okay, then move up in your work output. (if you got knee issues, use an elliptical instead of a treadmill) Keep track of what you eat and have a target calorie intake. I'll stress this here: Don't let it control what you eat, but how you portion control. Some people go overboard when measuring out their food and end up just skipping meals. You'll lose weight but the wrong way. This may develop disorders. Cut calories by cutting your meal size, not your meal altogether. That way you have the energy to burn through the day. It's okay to own a scale, but there will be a time to rely on a mirror instead. I believe scales are short term goals, but if you want to look the way you want to don't let a number tell you otherwise. Finally, your size and weight won't change overnight. Work out as you feel comfortable, but more importantly work out, at least 30 minutes straight. You will get to what you want to be. (as a confidence boost, music helps me. Like inspiring music, whatever that is to you. I started getting into Mega Ran over the years. Psychological boosts like that pushes your limits to go)

Okay, so you firstly, you did great cutting out sodas and drinking more water. Cut out all fried/fast foods. From there, just do some research on what is considered healthy food. Since you're 21, I am assuming you live at home, so your parents buy the groceries. I would tell them you want to have less added/unhealthy options, like gravy and fried fish and more fresh veggies. Also, exercise every day, even if it's just 10 minutes. Good job on doing the sit-ups and squats. I would also add some push-ups. It's okay to have a day off, but make sure you get right back on it afterward. In my case, I don't have any day off since through trial and error I know if I let myself do it, I won't get back into healthy eating. Source: Myself. I used to be 245 lbs, and now around 200. Also, I have a culinary degree and working on becoming a Registered Dietitian.

I'd recommend doing what they call a miler's challenge. Basically every quarter mile you push as hard as you can and then you do some type of exercise at the quarter mile mark. So heres an example. 0 Mile - 20 Pushups 20 Sit Ups .25 Mile - 20 Squats 20 Lunges .50 Mile - 10 Body builders 1 minute plank Ect. ect. I'd start of with only doing a mile and then slowly increasing it. AFter that, you could also do a straight mile and then do sprints and then exercise. As for eating healthy, try to buy fresh food instead of processed if you can. I know it's harder in this day and age but organic is a good way to go.

in my personal experience~ . as a man that balances at 220. and at 190 ish base for zero body fat. most likely you need to start looking at your diet than exercise. counterintuitively when i was less physically active, I can control my personal intake better. while forming and setting a pattern for eating. the biggest key for my personal weight loss was working on my Circadian rhythm. about 10 pounds. The next key for my personal weight loss was a detox. however i do work in a toxic environment (steel fab) so I don't know if that's any help for you. I have a personal goal of looking like Gouken when i'm old and grey.

im currently trying to reach about 15% body fat. I averaged about 1 pound of weight loss per weak with this method. 1. cold hard carrot for breakfast. 2. 2 stalks of celery, to 10 for lunch, with a candy bar of your choose. 3. Anything for dinner. 4. gallon of water/coffee a day. anything I want on the weekends, under a total of 3000 calories a day. ps. good luck. and use math.

I gained a couple of pounds after my surgery when I was unable to work. After I was better again, I joined the gym and started changing my eating habits. Originally I did the whole "buy healthy choices and weight watchers foods, count points", but eventually I settled into just eating less of what I normally do and cutting out the super bad things. I primarily drink water now (one whole bottle in the morning) and black coffee. I cut out soda and other sugary foods from my diet altogether. No fast food, and I attempt to do more cooking at home. Fish and chickens are super great as well. Also, take vitamins! It might not seem like much, but having a healthy intake can boost your metabolism and make you feel great. The better you feel, the less you will feel the need to eat Also, dont weight yourself daily, you will drive yourself nuts. Choose a day out of the week to do so. Also, dont weight yourself in the am when you wake up. Your weight fluctuates during the day, especially in the morning. Its best to do so at night.
