Japan militarizing for first time since WWII

Well even South korea added into that. Xi jinping is in seoul right now. Usually south korea and china don't get along but with the move to militarize, now they think it might be a good idea to make deals with china

I didn't consider that. South Korea recently got burned by the U.S. over a dispute on the Senkaku islands. Japan and South Korea both claim those islands as their own. Obama publicly confirmed that the islands fall under the scope of the U.S.-Japan Mutual Cooperation and Security Treaty. So basically, if anybody attacks those islands, we defend them alongside Japan with military force. To them it's like the U.S. is saying, "Sorry guys, but we like Japan more." South Korea might be afraid that they are going to lose even more land if the U.S. and Japan wage war with China. But then again, South Koreans approve of U.S. leaders more than Chinese leaders. If war were to happen, I'm positive both sides would be fighting to have South Korea on their side.

GO JAPAN! @MetaSynth I agree completely with you. America sucks and so do the shopping malls! The Constitution the United States was founded on is crumbling, the freedom our soldiers fought so hard for themselves and the rest of us will soon be a thing of the past, i'm certain. Its proof enough that its all gone to shit.

I think Japan needs to be able to defend itself. It shouldn't rely on the US for protection. So that would necessarily mean that Japan would have to have more aircraft, tanks, ships, etc. Unfortunately, they're banking on the F-35, rather than something else, like the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet or F-15SE Silent Eagle. The F-35 is a mess.
