Well this kind of thinking is something that can be avoided all together when I say being assuming of a person I dont mean normal casual things. I mean when somebody holds the past of a persons actions over them regardless of how that person might be presently. This is illogical its nothing but a old fashioned habit we have had its all about choice on that matter. Think of it this way you may view a person from the past a certain way but that way can be outdated if the person has changed presently. Also sorry for not clarifying my point earlier in my post was working if anything this is me nit picking at things that turn me off more then anything.

instincts r not old fashion habits. if I may quote a famous gentlemen? "If we do not learn from history we are doomed to repeat it". though we should have judgment to what is and what is not superficial, it can be hard for some then others "trick me once shame on you, trick me twice same on me."

Yes that is a good quote one I will agree with you on we do need to learn from the past but that all depends on what we learn more because not all things from the past learnt are beneficial. Although I would not classify this thinking as instincts though these are habits. Mental ones but all the same they are habits, instints are inherent whereas habits are just rooted in individuals as something they do. Not everybody holds the past over others just a certain amount. Judgment and evaluating a person is by all means a good thing. However just like most things it can be bad depending on how it is used.

what are habits if not underlying instincts? humans are coddled creatures and take great comfort in stability. I ask you this. If a dog bites you pet it? you don't. If you ask someone directions in newyork and they spit on your shoes, u don't go to newyork again do u?
