Otaku vs Weebo

stellalina
Yeah back then it wasn't too appropriate..Now if someone did that to me I seriously wouldn't really care I'd also find it amusing. If it was a girl, If it was a man..I'd probably slap him silly. LOL. But yeah, I sure didn't take it very lightly back then. And you'd have a crush on a girl who groped someone else's breasts!? Lol well I guess everyone has there tastes. XD

I would have a crush on a real life wannabe anime girl, a little lesbian like action would just be a plus, lol. I always had a thing for the weird girls, but back in my day that usually meant they were Goth or something like that.

Any way you slice it, it's silly to slap a label on yourself. You like what you like, that doesn't define your entire identity.

@Terumi Actually what a Weebo is, is a none Asian or Japanese decent that wants to be that race or nationality so badly because of the things they see in the otaku media, they pretty much disown their own race. And will even makeup their own family blood line to where they say "Oh I'm half Japanese on my moms/dads side!" When they could probably be the most whitest people ever. Or say "I only speak Japanese when I'm mad because it's my inner Asian coming out" Weebo's are ignorantly racist. Because they honestly believe that the shit they read in Manga or watch in anime is what really goes on in Japan, and they are ONLY interested in Japan because of their little fandoms. They don't care neither for the history, the culture, or time to really LEARN how to speak Japanese. Instead use the "Oh I learn Japanese by watching Anime" Which is the line that probably pisses me off the most. Japanese language has a different sentence structure then English does. Subtitles are there to where we the English speakers can understand it. Subject, Noun, Verb is how the Japanese language is, English is Subject, verb, noun. So I mean really. If they took the literal translation of what they were saying in Japanese to English it would sound like "I strawberries love" instead of "I love strawberries!" This is just things that urk me in the minds of weebo's because they don't understand that because they don't want to. They want to live in this fantasy world where their name is "Akiko, and they live in Tokyo and go to Omizu High and they are a 2nd year there. They live in their Japanese style home and have home made bento boxes that they eat with their friends everyday. And one day dream to make their sempai a bento and they will love it and one day will love them." Blah blah blah. >_>"

@metaljester, yeah I knew that, it was just alluded to that it had some kind of standing in Japan so I was curious if it had migrated over there.

People who call themselves otakus are pretty much just weeaboos... Otaku is not an endearing term at all and if you go to Japan and call yourself Otaku you're going to be looked down on (not saying that it's alright for them to judge people like that). This is kind of an example of what can happen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1esrBKPRuo With all that being said I have no problem with people liking what they like and am glad they enjoy anime and stuff like that, but do you really need to label yourself as something to prove you enjoy what you enjoy? It just seems counterproductive and seems to cause a lot more drama than there needs to be. You like anime and that's all there is to it; you aren't an otaku or a weeabo just a human being.

@Stellalina I.....my mouth gaped bigger the more I read your first post....I never knew people could be that...into anime. @toe My god...that had to be the hardest thing I ever had to watch. I jokingly call my one friend a weebo (people spell it 2 different ways. I chose the shorter cause lazy. 'Merica) because he throws out random phrases here and there such as the term 'Let us go' as well as that phrase that is said before eating. He is far from being anything...like that. I will stop calling him that because well...I'm just going to end up seeing 'Davido-kun' every time I think of the term weeaboo, weebo, wapanese, etc etc. I myself fall into the category of a cultural person. I plan on finishing school to be a cultural anthropologist, and learn a few languages in the process. I already know French and some Spanish. Japanese is a beautiful language and I kinda want to learn that as well......not for the reasons Davido-kun may have learned it. I'm an open-minded individual who gives everything a shot before judging it, but when I tell people I watch anime, I'm kinda thrown into the stereotype with as that guy. I would then laugh in their face and place them in the 'Scum' stereotype. If you are proud of who you are and what you like, you will get by a lot easier than those who aren't. If someone judges me I give them a "So what, deal with it bitch!" attitude.

Hmm why not just say you like anime rather then put yourself into a niche group.

It could be used in a somewhat elitist fashion to separate yourself from the kids who think the only anime out there is Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and DBZ, etc.

Weebo is an insult created on the internet. I personally don't think it's very nice. Just because people want to use japenese words for fun doesnt mean it's anything negative. And if they really believe they are anime charecters I honestly think they need help not for someone to make fun of them. In conclusion: leave britney alone you're lucky she performed for you bastereds!!! -No, Im serious though if people actually have a mental case where they think they are a japenese anime character they shouldn't be made fun of. Thats shit is serious. And if they just like anime who the fuck are we to make fun of them. I especially hate other otaku who say they are better than "weebos" because they think that that play it 'cool' and 'weebos' are just freaks that are below them. Just don't believe we should be mean to them. Weebos are lovers of anime who like to use words like 'desu' or 'kawaii' a lot in there personal lives because liked many of us otakus... we get bored with our regular lives and want to shake it up a bit... is that really all that bad??? I hate this stupid categorizing of people that the internet uses.
