Thoughts on Satanism?

I'm Catholic, but i"ve been around spiritually. satanism isnt exactly F#ck god and its not exactly goetic magick and murdering goats... well most of the time anyways.. Forneus is right those sins are good ol human nature, but too much of a good thing is bad. good job on the latin btw-ira

Actually, the real goal of Satanism is "To become your own God" -w- the laws and rules are very similar to christianity, but that one factor gets skewed sooo much by media and Christians....

@cant I don't really see how unless you're more agnostic or spiritual than hardcore atheist. :/ Well, I suppose if you had a religious upbringing and thus still of satan as a term for something.... Maybe? I dunno lol.

Ah I looked it up! LaVeyan Satanism. Hmmm, for me personally I think it has a smattering of religious ideals in it since they are using satan as a kind of symbol, but then again I think I'm technically irreligious so I kinda view everything in a white black when it comes to religious ideas. But I think that's really splitting hairs soooo... :p

@xueli A big part is definitely rebelling against traditional Western religious ideologies. Social liberalism tends to be a good thing, but in moderation, and I find many philosophies tied in with Satanism to be too extreme.

what about that girl in the news who killed her first person at age 13, and ever since that day she joined a satanist cult and killed over 20 people and she is now at age 18,....... I blame OBAMA

I've read LaVey's book a couple of times, and I never really got the feel of it. It has been a while since I even owned the book (it was stolen by Christians) go figure. If my memory serves me correct he talked a lot about just being human, enjoying life and all it has to offer without worrying about sin, and on the other hand it has Enochian keys and rituals written in the book at the end. So some of the book says (nah go ahead and live don't worry about worship), then goes on to say (well here is how you worship for each specific thought you have thought your life). I don't technically agree with all of LaVey's ideals but it is on my list of things to do (visit church of Satan)

Meh. I mean I like some of the ideas, but it's far too self-centered in my opinion. The reason we have all of the modern advances we have today is because we've come together as a race (somewhat) and started putting rules against our behavior to create a cohesive society. Go ahead and call me a liberal or a humanist, but the goal of society should be to promote the well being of all, not just a select elite, which is pretty much the goal of satanism. The whole looking at society as "cattle" is absolute bollocks.
