Any1 here with ADD - ADHD? If you feel like sharing, i'd like to know what meds you were prescribed, and how you reacted to your meds... I got diagnosed few months ago, as i deceided to go back to school. I was first prescribed "Dexedrine"... Started out alright, turned out to be hell side-effect-wise... Starting "Concerta" tomorrow, and since my first experience with meds wasn't exactly good, i'm kind of stressed out... Looking foward to hear from your experiences

I have adhd, and I was diagnosed with it when I was 7 or 8, took a few different meds one of them was experimental and don't remember the name. For the most part I took Aderral and I hated the side effects. I never wanted to eat even if I was hungry, and falling asleep was almost impossible. I quit taking it a long time ago because I'd rather just deal with having adhd than deal with having those side effects. Anyways a little while ago I found something called Evo, it's basically just a natural brain supplement and it does what aderral did for me without any of the nasty side effects. I highly recommend it. Here's a link if you're interested http://evopills.com/

I had a feeling this topic would come up. I don't really have any input on it cause I haven't had to deal with it but im also interested in people reactions to the med they are prescribed.

Glad to see i'm not alone... Started the meds last May. I was 165 pounds (75kg) and i just went today to see my new doctor (had to create my file at this new place) and i'm now down to 138 pounds (62kg). Sleep was alright at first. I usually need a lot of sleep; i used to sleep 9 hrs a day, it went down to 7, but with the meds on, i was able to go through the day fairly easily. But then after a few months, with the stress from university and my job, went down to 3hrs nights of sleep, i was going C-R-A-Z-Y. Apparently, under 1% of dexedrine users experience side effects that are that bad... Started to isolate myself from other peoples, including from my girlfriend (and we live together in a 3 room appt. - so that says it all. I have been smoking ciguarette since i was 16. I finally had mannaged to stop for 8 months when i started dex, then the rages came back tenfold. Annnddd as if it wasn'T i was sweating like crazy all day long, i always felt disgusting. I really need to get my shit together asap, this other med is better give me break.... But the most annoying thing: the damn thing works. For the first time ever i'm sitting in school with the feeling that maybe i can do this. Pretty ironic that the very thing that has given me hell lately has also been the only one that helped me out with school so far =//

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was eight. Back in the nineties it seemed like every kid was being told they had ADHD if they acted the least bit hyper, but I went through a litany of tests before I was diagnosed and was put on ritalin... I often wonder if that medication wasn't responsible for my depression years later. I definitely still deal with ADD, but I'm no where near as hyper as I once was.

I have ADD and I was diagnosed as an adult. I refuse to medication and I've been told that's not wise by a lot of people. I'm also in school and I work with kids and I believe my job keeps me focused. I want to make sure the kids are happy and they make me stay active and help me keep my focus on a million things at once. School is kinda hard because of the massive amounts of reading, but I just break everything into bits and pieces because sitting in one place for forever is really hard..damn near impossible. One technique I did learn from my cousin who has ADHD is to always keep something in your hand. Lessens the fidgeting and makes you focus. It works for me at least.
