Most American Gamers: YM2612, you are the earliest Yamaha FM soundchip that radicalized game music forever!
Me and other Obscure Research Gamers (especially ones in Japan): Say high to YM2203, YM2413, YM3526, Y8950, YM3812, YM2608 and the very prominent YM2151. And the MD/GEN isn't alone using YM2612. The Fujitsu FM TOWNS and its Marty counterpart also use that, as well as the YM3438 used with the Ricoh RF5C68 that were both also used in several Sega arcades at the same time.
And did you know the Sega SG-1000 was released the same date in Japan as the Nintendo Famicom?
Asides from "Sonic" and Golden Axe", another Sega-exclusive game series which I loved was "Eternal Champions". It's in the fighting game genre, and over in North America during the 1990ies it became the third-ranking popular fighting game series right under "Street Fighter" and "Mortal Kombat".
Unfortunately, the Japanese and the Europeans didn't like it as much, and it sadly got discontinued to make room for the ugly-looking polygons of the "Virtua Fighter" series when the Saturn console made its debut.
*sigh* Thank heavens we have Genesis emulation for multiple PC operating systems. Otherwise, this under-rated gem would've been cruelly lost.
What a great game. Really wish we had gotten another.
This was my favorite old Sega game couldn’t get enough of throwing your head at people
There was actually 1 sequel to it for the SegaCD hardware add-on. It was called "Eternal Champions: Challenge from The Dark Side" and it featured several new characters, new stages, and new music in addition to all the old content.
Fortunately I have ROMs of both of those games, and I have recorded videos of their gameplay posted on my Dailymotion account.
If you like Decap Attack, see also its spiritual predecessors and the original Japanese counterpart:
Skies is the best 3d rpg period!
@meisterman I will thanks it looks very similar
You're welcome. Vic Tokai developed them. Sega had good relations with them enough to let them create the Sonic-esque Time Dominator 1st (known outside of Japan as Socket which sounds similar to Sonic), then even mention them with Battle Mania girls in Segagaga for Dreamcast.
My fav game of all time is Toy Story :) That game was soooo much fun!
Then there was a Mickey game that was fun.
The Lion King
And of course Sonic! <3
I also just love the controller. Maybe because it was my first.....>.> xD :P
