Well, the reincarnation story here is a little different, but carries a lot of the same elements. Basically, they are kind of like Adam and Lilith (although I won't spoil it any further than that). Lilith was Adam's first wife before Eve in some early Jewish mythology. That's the same Jewish mythology that also talks about the Zohar. God, just talking about this reminds me of how much Xenogears completely blew my 13 year old mind. Such an amazing game.
