I for one won't date a girl who doesn't either play video games or like anime. Though I dislike dating anyways. What do you consider "friends?" Maybe they have friends in those games like most people do and they enjoy talking to THEM all the time. The first thing I ever tell people is that I'm a huge otaku and if we're not going to have much to talk about, we might as well not. I mean, you're on THIS site talking with people that obviously like anime and such, but you don't think the same thing should happen for a video game like WoW? I mean... There are literally millions of people that play it world wide you know? It's just one of those things that if you don't get it, you just won't really understand it. If you look at people at a fundamental level and see what they like, it's pretty easy to see. Btw people RP all the time on WoW, for example I'm on a Rppvp server myself. Figured I'd find more otaku there, haha.

Im just not a fan of wow its not interesting to me I have played it befor but the lore that was there was not enough. I agree with you that wow is good for a certain audience but that does not mean it is a great game for everybody. I am very picky about mmos myself. Im already aware they roleplay in wow though. Also I know that they do have friends in those kinds of games I know because I have made friends in mmos. One of the first I made friends in was everquest.

That question needs some serious thought and will vary based on the person. If anything one answer could be that games might have been there for that person ever since they were a kid almost like a parent in a sense it nurtured it with flashing colors and fantasy lands. Allowed the person to feel good about completing a story and constantly refreshing it with new things. This in a sense built up a intense care for said gaming along with a place for them to feel happy to the point that they would in the end think that games will always be there for them while a relationship may not. Thats just a opinion though.

No im not referring to just all gamers lol just ones who you would refer to in the beginning of the thread would waste away their life completely not caring about whats around them those kinds of gamers are more rare but the ones im referring too. I do agree though it is selfish to create a profile that makes it appear that you want somebody and if somebody likes you and you get in a relationship but dont value that person as equal as they do you compared to the games then its selfish by all means.
