I think it's definitely a young person's game, long distance. Personally, I couldn't do it. I have a kid, so that's a HUGE factor. I mean, it's not like I can just up and leave to follow my heart. I also think it's a very, very difficult to do. I mean, most people want/need human contact and videos/calls/texting is very impersonal.

Aww, you're right yaasshat @yaasshat. I'm still young. Young in relationships and in age. I understand the need for human contact.okay okay.I'll keep it in mind.^_^

I agree with Yaass. If one has previous commitments to an area, such as owning property or business propositions, then it becomes difficult for the long distance relationship to find solid footing. As my brother put it, "The majority of marriages come from people who live in the same area and work together." Though I have a cousin that is married to a Filipino woman, they only met because she immigrated to the US for college. Had she not, then there never would have been such a meeting. Another relative of mine is married to a Taiwanese woman that he only met because he chose to move to Taiwan as a permanent resident and she happened to work for the same company as him. Even online dating only works best if the two sharing correspondences are relatively close by. I have had to practically yank teeth just to have people I've met online meet in person for a simple outing. Finally the woman that I ended up sharing a home with was someone I already knew from my teen years. She also had lived less than a mile from me. So for a long distant relationship to work there needs to be a common reason for both to interact with each other in person either by a commitment to the area or work affiliation.

if you have unlimited money distance is no issue. For the normal earning folks its not. I have been friends with a girl i met here about two years ago and we met up this year for a week and had some dates together. The only reason i am not together with her is the distance. If she would live next door she would probably be my girlfriend already. She can't afford to travel to me first because she is still in high scholl and second the train connection is shit, that means you either need to go by car or plane or god forbid bus. With a car its half a days drive but anything else and you will need a whole day so yeah not that accessible if you have places to be.

Well I'm currently in a relationship with someone 155 miles away. We've been dating for 3 months now, it's going very well. I'm somewhat worried about the future and who will move closer to the other etc if it gets to that stage, which I hope it will.

Laffantion @laffantion well, distance is a challenge for sure.
