Dealing With Emotions While Dating

Depends on how far in the relationship you are in. If you're on your first or second date. If you're feeling that terrible, odds are you should just postpone and reschedule. You want to show a person, your BEST traits first. Don't just act, all macho and indifferent. You want to be yourself, however you want to be your BEST self. Hopefully that's not someone who is depressed all the time. So, Show her your best you. Later in the relationship, of course you should. However you shouldn't let it control who you are either. Take time to heal, of course. Talk it out, vent. Go for it. But if all you do around someone is whine about problems(not saying you are.) they'll begin to believe that's all you are. Take the time to heal about your issues, Fix your issues. Keep moving forward. Everyone has their down moments, But the important part, is pulling yourself back up. That's my advice anyways.

I really like this thread. It makes me feel better about all the times I've been open about my feelings. I can be a very emotional person sometimes, especially when I'm in love, but there's an instinct that pops up sometimes when I'm with certain types of people, where I hide the part of me that wants to be affectionate or don't talk about my feelings because I don't want to make the other person feel nervous or upset or pressured or... whatever. So then I try and reign myself in when all I really want to do is show them how much they mean to me. Sadly, having to hold everything in like that just ends up making me miserable. The unfortunate reality is that something (usually them showing a lack of real interest or words not matching actions) is indicating to me that I can't trust them enough to be myself with them, and I know deep down that I can't be happy like that. I usually try to talk to the person about it eventually, to see to how they feel about it, but sometimes they're too wrapped up in their own issues to address mine. Nothing for it but to just let them go at that point and try to find someone capable of giving as much and being as open as I am.
