Are humans inherently evil?

reisenpai66
I feel my argument went over a lot of heads because you're describing moral relativism. But you can't have that while also saying something is objectively evil. My entire argument is that people always think what they're doing is good, despite all else. No one ever does anything they find to be bad. Humans are selfish creatures and do things that benefit them, even if its something as simple as self gratification. Hence why i also stated selfless acts cant exist.

I'm growing my hair out to donate it to people suffering with cancer. I feel like I'm doing it because I feel bad for people with cancer having to worry about covid on top of all their other problems. Maybe I'm doing it because I want to counterbalance my own selfish decisions in the past and it is my way to give back. I would have never considered doing this as a kid. I feel like humans have to learn to be good people because at our core selfishness is for survival.

I think Carl Jung was right when he said within every human mind is a shadow; ie the shadow of the subconscious; Carl Jung wrote that if not confronted, it can take over a persons actions or even consume them; like fight club; the main character, simply referred to as the narrator, was taken over by the self he repressed; after almost completely repressing his real personality to make it in the business world, his true self reemerged as a split personality. I agree with Jung, one can't be wholly good unless you face the shadow of the subconscious, after you reemerge from facing the darkness within, and only then, can you wholly be a source of light.

Not inherently evil, but everyone is inherently selfish and fickle.
