Political rants

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks3DlM7ypX0 Edit: I'm pretty sure Dr. Richie is wrong about the state police being on the hook for this one as previously discussed here the buck stops with the Cherokee SWAT team. That wasn't the reason I posted though. I'm curious what you would do in this guy's situation.

TwoShy @twobananasshyofapumpkinpie Interesting. That's the Eastern Band of Cherokee and they are considered a separate tribe from the ones displaced to Oklahoma (used to be one tribe) but I wonder if after the Oklahoma ruling if things happened there as well. I don't doubt their police/SWAT force doesn't have enough training yet, if so. The ones displaced to Oklahoma are registered through the Dawes Rolls but some were either hidden or escaped the Trail of Tears. My husband's ancestor was one that went back to Georgia after she was sent to Oklahoma so he isn't able to register as Cherokee through the government but I am since my ancestors stayed in Oklahoma and were put on the rolls.

Yea the poor guy didn't look like he was in a verbal altercation. It looked like he and his wife woke up, picked up the SWAT robot and went out to see what the police wanted...and even looked like he had his hands raised as he walked out the door. It's a miracle his wife wasn't shot too.

@verucassault It's not always that I'm short on time. It's more that my attention span doesn't hold up the way it did three years ago. Apathy, nihilism, adhd, and grief fucked me up in ways that go beyond just psychological. I've been in survival mode for too long, and the neuro pathways have rerouted. So things that were easy before are just hard for me now, even with the adoral. And I just kinda don't care enough to put up a fight like I used to, or to over explain things past a certain threshold. By the way, have you ever experienced ego death before? :\ Anyways, what'd I miss?

Nothing important. I started to actually rant about socialism and anarchism then we started talking about fbi statistics and horrible reporting before a brief talk on SWAT mishandling a case.

@twobananasshyofapumpkinpie https://i1.sndcdn.com/artworks-XapD3G6KBybyAwtO-TRQURA-t500x500.jpg Yeah, that's how it normally goes. Try to talk about any kinda policy, then you get looped into having to define specific ideologies instead, and then you have to explain to them how information gets warped in the game of telephone while simultaneously balancing a sensational topic that the public already has been told to think a certain way about. Alright, so law enforcement fucking up. Boy, where have I heard this one before? There's an entire channel dedicated to officers overstepping their boundaries and blatantly ignoring civil rights, firearms laws, and traffic bs. So must be a pretty common occurrence. https://www.youtube.com/@AuditTheAudit Oh, Swat is involved, must be a brutality case! I mean just going off of the usual pattern after Waco happened... (Twice...) Was an unarmed (Most likely dusky or darker, or if not, visibly low income) man beaten and maimed in front of his family with attack dogs sinking their teeth into him just because he was too stunned to see black militant tac gear kicking down his door, and didn't hear then when they told him to get on the ground? Or did they just forget to deescalate properly again? To be fair, their job is a scary one, and fear makes people act far more with a bias towards stupid judgement. So let's militarize them, and give them far less training and discipline than we give our soldiers and see what happens! That way, when they do encounter armed men, they can constantly choose the dumbest dialogue options over and over again, ensuring that people who are even less trained than they are will act under panicked pressure, thus making their jobs even more dangerous than it needs to be? It's stupid that this is a political issue.

@verucassault Cool. I've experienced it twice. Once in that hippy new age way, the other to the point where I was addressing. This kinda gets into Jungian psycology a bit, but I don't know how else to contextualize it without getting deep into long circular occult explanations or anything. But I have a question. In the second time, let's just say the persona shattered, and since then I lost the ability to try to be someone else depending on who I'm talking to. Even when I do manage it, the mask is cracked, and I just give up trying. How do you reconstruct it? Im not trying to ascend reality or reach Tiphareth. I'm just one dude trying to avoid a therapist he can't afford, here.
