Political rants

hell_hound7
I originally wasnt gonna join, who wants to die for someone else's war amirite? But then i got a letter in the mail saying in the event of ww3 i am going to be drafted. Then im like so if im gonna be drafted anyway i might as well join. Then the school recruiters are basically what drove my branch choice. Joining was extremely harder than people think. It took me 7 months to even get shipped off to basic.

That long? I literally shipped out 2 weeks after graduation and that was because I chose to do that. They wanted me gone a week after. It could also probably depend on the installation, MOS, and slots I suppose.

I was the first medical job coming out of my recruitment station in like 2 years. I had to fix my weight issue i was like 20 pounds under weight and like coming out of college not highschool. I decided to join when Trump became president and didnt get sent to MEPS until August the following year.

I see, for me they offered to send me to basic while I was still in high-school then finish AIT after graduation but I said fuck that and knocked out OSUT after graduation.

3 years in and i already have seen it all. Never a dull moment tbh, but some people get to their first Duty station and less than a month be like "i dont think the military is for me" Gee the whole "treason punishable by death" video didnt scare you off but shitty coworkers did?
criselington
Yup saw that and they're the same ones who "accidentally " permanently injured themselves and get a med-board. I stuck it in for 6 years and got tired of the sit around the campfire and hold hands while singing campfire songs direction the army was going. There were fun times though especially on deployment.

I always say they pussified the military. The closest thing i came to my real depiction of the military was on deployment. It just sucks to have all this pride and respect for my country and then seeing the things i love be destroyed. If anything the military has definitely made me more patriotic. So these dumb extremism trainings they have that literally contributes nothing to my job which is 10x more important to the mission. Yeah i rather not do them. But you know its not so much a military thing as it is a US thing. I feel we have been at the top so long people are getting complacent. People need a privilege check. I sure as hell got one seeing how those third country nationals live.
criselington
Part of the complacency in the military comes from them trying to keep up appearances and not wanting to hurt people's feelings. This has led to written counseling statements that rarely get sent up so nobody learns a lesson or even gives a shit. It has also led smoking sessions to be basically a warm up to PT. I definitely got a lot of privilege checks traveling around the world for sure.

Yeah when a simple soda makes a dude's day you know shit is rough in other parts of the world. Dudes used to fight over crystal light packets to put in their water. But yeah i feel like the military needs to do their own thing and forget about the general public. All this keeping up appearances with the community stuff is annoying. Especially volunteering like i VOLUNTEERED to be military i dont wanna be forced to volunteer in my local community ontop of that. If i do then good for me, if i dont no one should care.
criselington
I've literally seen someone cry for a bottle of clean water while traveling around and that shit really wakes you up to how things are.
