When did you grow up?

@if morality is based on emotions or based on religion then that morality is very unstable. Morality must be set based on rationalism and logic, it should be justifiable and should be proved with experience and human history. Thats a different debate though.. Yes humanity wouldnt be the same without emotions, i completely agree.. but humans are able to survive only because of rationalism and being able to rationally controll their emotions and use it properly. Emotions is more like a necessary evil and it must be used carefully, and to do so you must understand them properly, otherwise just rely on logic.. thats what i used to think back at 16 :v And emotions are responsible for many of the deaths.. best example i can give is traffic accidents. Traffic accidents occur purely because of the emotional side of humans, its predicted that if all human drivers are replaced by perfect AIs then we can completely elimimate any form of traffic let alone traffic accidents :v same is true for surgeries, diagnosis, correction, political decisions.. and the only reason an AI is better than us in those areas is because they can use logics better than us and have no emotions to cause errors. Infact doctors arent allowed to operate on their family members or relatives! Its against the medical ethics.. reason? Because we will get emotional and that can cause error.

Baka, There is a large difference between the maturity of the average adult and child,(Even though there are mature children and immature adults, But we're going off the average.) And usually it's either by traumatic instances or a long steady stream of lessons over time, I've come to see. So I was curious to see if what those moments were. So it was named perfectly my friend. A wise person will always continue to grow, But there's a difference between losing Child Naivety, and continuing to learn after all. There's a difference between Glee and Fun, and Immaturity as well.

Laughing, Morality is unstable, because morality is shaped by the individual. Whether it be my set of Rational morals, or another person's version of rational morals, or a person's irrational set of morals. Morals are subjective, even if we agree overall on them. I think we can agree on this yes? And I'm not saying Emotions are the basis of Morality, I'm saying they are The CAUSE, because Empathy, Sympathy, Regret, All things that keep people from doing wrong things for personal gain. While it's not necessary once you have a good understanding of Morals, they just as often help you to do good, aswell as bad afterwards as well. I'd disagree, Emotions give one inspiration, They give one Drive, They give one the will to live and prosper as well. Because without emotion, We wouldn't have Curiosity, Fear, and Courage, all things very important, I think you cna agree on. Even after you understand perfect logic, It can still help encourage you to do things you need to do. No traffic death's are due to stupidity, Such as not paying attention, or being under the influence. Logic does not give one Wisdom, even if they often go hand in hand. Political Decisions are often based Solely on Morality, Which means Logic only has a place but not a full control over it, for good reason as well. Because we all have different logic to go by, Is Freedom worth the risk? For instance. Many cases some would say yes, while other's no, and both are equally valid. I'm not saying emotions are perfect, Just that they are more useful than hurtful.

Baka, Well I did ask how as well, if you read my first post. But the When was also a part of the question because people often big leaps in maturity whenever learning an important lesson. So I still stand by with how I did it.

@leo.. carelessness, panic, anxiety, fear, thrill, confusion are also emotions.. and this is what takes away your attention while driving! Infact being under the influence of drugs heightens these emotions! And you yourself said being under influence cause accident :p yes stupidity is there, but they arent actual stupid people.. if normally if you give them a hypothetical accident scenario to solve they will easily solve as anyone would, but in those real conditions of accidents the emotions they experience make them stupid :p There is the road/car part of accident, but there is a human part of accident too.. when we see something unexpected we get tensed suddenly and this causes a temporary blood block to brain making you dumb fot a short time (a fight and flight response) and only giving you basic signals to act by which might be useful in a forest infront of a lion but in traffic it becomes harmful! When you are in thrill of driving you loose controll of yourself and accidents happen, when you are angry or under any other emotions you make mistakes and accidents occur :p I can debate with you whole day about accidents occuring coz of emotions XD we legit study about it in community medicine XD And u said political decisions are based purely on morals which i agree, but i already based morals on rationalism instead of emotions. Emotions only make political decisions biased, one with his set of emotions prefers his state/country/beliefs and shift his decisions towards that area (like the highly religious government of india banning cow meat coz cow is a holy animal in hinduism.. just an example) :v There are many rational reasons why freedom ks required, if some say yes and others say no then its because of their personal beliefs which is again an emotion! Throughout our history we can see the struggle for freedom and even the countries which didnt have freedom woulcurosit bypass it and get freedom. The debate of freedom is a large one though lol so i wouldnt want to go into it, but i disagree that the reasoning for freedom is based on emotions as freedom and various rights are purely rational and logical. And yes i agree on the emotions for inspiration and curosity, some of them are worth it :v

Teacup, I wouldn't say that being in a negative financial situation makes you any less Mature, Just a hazy situation to be in. Well if you have personal responsibility, and a good basic understanding of what's around you, I'd say you're grown up, You can be Mature and still have that childlike glee after all. Don't worry about your past with Dating, Everyone's got one, Just try not to push it on your partner with the first date and you should be good to go.

Laughing, I'd say confusion is more of a lack of understanding than an emotion, Carelessness also being something that doesn't necessitate emotion. While some drugs do increase emotions yes, Most of the stuff that's easy to get is more likely to just stunt your awareness, Which isn't emotion either. Fight or Flight also isn't an emotion, but a reaction caused by the body. Sure fear can cause it, but it's whenever your body feels threatened, afraid or not really, that it starts up. Now I'm not saying emotions don't cause accidents, What I'm saying is people who don't pay attention or are reckless do. Personal belief is not just emotion. Because some see Freedom as more important, other's see survival of the fittest(Which is likely where we'd be without emotions, like Empathy and compassion.), While other's are more socialist, None of these are inherently based on emotion, But a certain line of Logic. Not all logic is the same, because not everyone's Goals are the same, whether it be for the country or for themselves.
