Have you met catfishes online? How do you judge if a person is trustworthy or not?

I guess I was also assumed to be a catfish before, because I refuse to send them pictures that show my whole face PREMATURELY, not to mention to have voice chat and video chat with them...I don't like showing my face because I don't want my face and race to be the only reason why they take the initiative to talk with me...Hey, what else most of them can say, except "You are so cute"...Online, making compliments on girls' physical traits is the first step to flirt..Heh, I have no intention to waste my time and energy to flirt with anybody. Moreover, I don't know how to respond to lines like "you are so cute", after all I don't think I am that cute...What's more...I cannot rule out the possibility that they would ask me to send nudes after seeing my face heh. Humans are greedy anyway. I avoid voice chat mainly because I am not used to speaking English, and I always have no idea what I should say...Heh, as an introvert, I even disliking answer ordinary phone calls In Mandarin...Video Chat is dangerous, because I don't know what that stranger will do in front of the webcam and what they hope I do for them. What if they show their genitals suddenly?(I frequented Chinese forums where some naive girls complain that they come across perverted guys online) Also I don't hope my photos become strangers' fap material. Hence if strangers ask me to show selfies that show my whole face or to have video chats, in no way will I befriend them no matter how nice they might be..I don't mind being blocked by this kind of people. I tend to toy with a few by using some other people's photos when I'm doing nothing, also to know reactions of theirs. I have thousands of pictures about my life on various social media I use...I post something daily...So I can prove I am real. ...Yeah....I'm somewhat paranoid...

I'm pretty skeptical with people I interact with online so if there were to be any I have an interest in, I do some type of 'look up'. If I can't reverse image or can't find anything about them that correlates to who I am talking to, I ain't trusting them until proven to be real. That's just me.

Always been by the side of them, never gave attention cause I don't care.

I've always been pretty careful not to be catfished. Most of the time it should be pretty obvious if a profile is a fake, but there are some catfishes that are pretty good at tricking people. There are plenty of red flags to look out for if you think someone online is not who that say are. The easiest way to know if someone is catfishing you is to do a reverse image search of their pictures. Catfishes usually use other people's pictures that they find online.

The truth of the matter is that there's honestly nothing somebody can or do, or you can do to show any form of honesty or that you or they are being trustworthy - we must understand that trust itself is a social construct that we tell ourselves in order to come to terms with the unknown, Its alot like the concept of love; its not tangent, you cannot tangentially hold it in your hand. I personally believe that one should come to terms with the unknown, However in this case - if it comes revealed that someone is a liar or untruthful, then simply don't waste your time with them and move on, There's too many beauties out here in this world to waste your time on someone who doesn't value or respect you. Besides, sleeping with one eye open because of somebody is no way to live, So don't waste your time.

I've found a few in my time. Mind you not all of them have bad intentions - sometimes they want attention from those around them and end up trying to be someone they're not but they end up messing it up for themselves because they weren't honest with who they were in the first place so yeah, I wouldn't blame anyone for getting pisses there because I know I was. But of course there are plenty out there who just want to be complete and total douche bags. Different people have different reasons to catfish but all reasons are shit nonetheless.

Do they take screenshots on a phone that isn't the same phone they're holding in their selfies? Then they might be a catfish...
