Who owns a PlayStation 5 and how much did it cost ya?

I got one on release so I was very very lucky xD. Costed around 550 CAD after tax. Best 500 bucks I've ever spent

I have pretty much given up on this. Im probably never going to get a next gen console. Sony released a modified version of the ps5 and im not gonna buy it because the heatsink is moderately worse than the original.

I ain't buying one cause what's on it worth playing? Honestly I have 0 interest in games these days. Too many microtransactions and DLC. The most I might think about a new video game is if it is made by Atlus or From Soft. Square Enix has lost my faith with recent titles. Bethesda is always a mess of bugs. Rockstar I could go either way with. In the end, I'm becoming increasingly picky with what I buy these days.

Purchased PS5 during launch month. Had to pay 600 usa dollars for it over all since at the time you were only allowed to buy a custom bundle you built in order to prevent scalpers. I got the ps5 with demon's souls remake (not worth it) Main reason I got it was because my ps4 was not working as intended anymore. Has it been worthwhile? Yes and no. I spend more time playing ps4 games on it than ps5. The controller is not very comfortable and it has too many gimmicks that I despise. My hands are kinda broken and I cannot hold heavy controllers. I ended up having to spend an extra 160 usa dollars for a custom built ps5 controller that I can hold. I had the haptic motors removed and replaced both the shoulder buttons and adaptive triggers with microswitches instead. All so that it could be lighter. If only they allowed the use of all ps4 controllers for ps5 games this would not have been an issue. I would have been happy to use my wireless hori mini controller from japan to play my ps5 games. Ps5 games are not very impressive either. I have all three of true ps5 exclusives and not a single one of those games is worth 70 usd. I am honstely enjoying my Xbox series x way more since for that at least some older games are getting better performance boosts. Still with the slight performance boost you get for ps4 titles is nice but it is a shame that not every ps4 title is compatable. Some old ps2 classics that I had for ps4 like ape escape 2 and okage, both are glitchy and rather unplayable while ps2 titles like gta games are of course in perfect playing order. Such things really made me feel like I purchased and unfinished prouduct so I would not recommend to anyone at all. Either get a powerful gaming pc or an xbox at this point. For the the exclusives most of them are on ps4 anyway so no reason to buy an unfinished product to play them. All of that being said I am still happy to have it and use it I just think it is not worth the price they are selling it for. Especially since you still cannot put the system in sleep mode without a chance of something going wrong or the whole problem with the expansion bay. When it works it is nice but still all of these issues are inexcusable for a product being sold this much.

@xinmage "I ain't buying one cause what's on it worth playing? ..... Too many microtransactions and DLC." *Drops $1000 into Genshin Impact* As for the general question of "Why get a PS5?" The answer, aside from the convenience and simplicity of a console, is exclusives. The real question should be "Why get an Xbox Series X?" When everything on an Xbox is on PC as well. Excluding the convenience of a console, it seems like a redundant system to me. As for PS5 exclusives, there's several on my radar coming out later this year and in 2022. But the reveal of game footage for Gran Turismo 7 was particularly crotch swelling for me. If anyone has any interest at all in racing games, then GT7 should cause you to immediately begin nursing a full hard on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUpjEGCtcB8 Other PS5 exclusives out now or will be in 2022 that cause personal thermal expansion: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intermission Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut Kena: Bridge of Spirits God of War 2: Ragnarok Miles Morales Spiderman 2 Ratchet and Clank Forspoken https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zjYirBJAUxwhwSZ8jqYHgb-970-80.jpg Horizon: Forbidden West (go to 2:30 and proceed... Sorry PC, but this looks better than all your games) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQATS4HOxdo Pragmata Demon's Souls Returnal Stray (I think it's an exclusive)

@bob_loblaw Let's get the facts straight, I only spent $340 and that was over the spand of 10 months. Secondly, I have ceased spending on Genshin Impact since the 1.6 update. Alternatively, though I agree with Gran Turismo being a legitimate sentiment having played the older games on PS 1 and 2, it won't be enough to sell a system to me. Even with Elden Ring, I can't be bothered. Only one game has my attention right now. That game is Shin Megami Tensei V which won't release on Sony anyway. Last, I saw you are a Horizon Zero Dawn fan. Guess who became a playable character for Genshin Impact? https://cdn.mixrod.com/uploads/2021/07/genshin1.png https://www.androidcentral.com/sites/androidcentral.com/files/styles/large/public/article_images/2021/08/genshin-impact-update-2-1-aloy-cryo.jpg

From that list the only games in there that are true ps5 exclusives is ratchet and clank, demon’s souls, returnal, spiderman 2. The rest of those games listed are also/will be available on ps4/pc. Not to mention that the ones on pc are also limited console exclusives. Sony doesn’t have many true ps5 exclusives. Even FfVII remake is a limited exclusive. Quite honestly out of the true exclusives I do own, I still don’t see how the ps5 is needed to play these games. It has been proven the same loading techniques can be done on a ps3 albeit not as polished. Regardless there is nothing so special about these games that warrant buying a ps5.

Well people keep saying the ps5 is being held back by ps4. These stuidos needing to port for both consoles means the ps5 wont be played at its fullest potential. But the issue is, if they wanted everyone to leave ps4 behind they should have had a better launch. Idk how it is that xbox still is easier to find online than a ps5. Its crazy.

What's more insane is that I needed to buy a new PS4 controller yesterday and not a single store had one. Just a couple months ago I could find them without issues. Wouldn't you know that these same stores had plenty of PS5 controllers! But no PS5 systems. It literally makes zero sense. You can buy a PS4 console, yet you can't get a controller. You can buy a PS5 controller, but no system? I was able to order a 3rd party controller through Amazon for $30. It arrived overnight and I have had no problems.
