Yes they matter. You are completely missing the point. You don't want governments imposing their own subjective morality to society. Otherwise you'll be like China. Where the government just bans any art that disagrees with their own subjective morality. That is not a free society. Where some offensive or lewd art is censored for the excuse to protect the moral nature of society.
