Personally I believe veganism is a religion in its own right. - It's fine that a person wants to live differently, but insisting that it is for the greater good of humanity at all costs is short sighted. - Betty White lived to be 99 and I doubt veganism is what led to such a long life. The queen of England isn't that far behind. - People's lives are often extended by the overall quality of life afforded to them, not the type of foods they eat. - As to animals' rights it is as simple as not doing anything more than what is necessary to the preservation of their species. - Taking one for a pet is a personal choice that doesn't benefit the rest of the species. It's the height of hubris to believe that choosing to spare an animal somehow makes an individual some sort of moral judge to the rest of humanity. - Also leaving animals to do as they please can be an even crueler act than selective breeding. Take into consideration the damage an invasive species reaps upon a land with no natural predators to control the population. - I can appreciate not wanting to waste food. I can appreciate not making an animal suffer anymore than it has to to be made into something useful for mankind. - If man were never meant to eat meat we would not be born with the capacity to do so. Many animals share our sentiment. - Ants farm aphids for milk. Lions eat gazelles as well as train their young to be hunters as well. - If everything on this planet stopped living the current natural way there wouldn't be enough vegetables grown to feed one species let alone the entire population of all living organisms. - Farmers already struggle with finding land to maintain cattle production. - Letting all those cows roam free wouldn't stop the problem, it'd exasperate it! - The only thing I give veganism credit for is that it can help to increase the amount of food options available. This does decrease the strain upon the meat packing industry to produce as well as giving people in areas where meat isn't an option a food source. - Both have their place, but neither is a replacement for the others. - There are three types of creatures. Carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores. Man is omnivorous. We eat both to sustain our health properly. In times of crisis we can live heavily upon one source of nutrition or the other, but it's not optimal for us or the environment. - People may be selective about how we think of the world, yet the world will always have the same opinion of people. - For better or for worse we will always have a place on mother nature's plate. Right next to the herbivores and carnivores.

I don't think Betty was a vegan. She mentioned how much she loved hot dogs.

When I mentioned Betty White my point was for the fact she was not a vegan. - I was showing an example of someone recently that lived a long and healthy lifestyle without the absence of meat. - Clint Eastwood would be another example. - I'm not sure how that translates to my monologue being about pro-vegan? - I do not believe veganism doesn't have lifestyle choices that are more optimal for certain groups. I also do not believe one should completely remove meat from the menu for the same reasons. - So no, Betty White and Queen Elizabeth haven't lived this long because of veganism.

The truth is each person's body is different and there's no one universal healthy lifestyle.
