Most anime that is produced nowadays is total shit but people eat it up because it's trendy to like anime and call yourself a weeb.

@xinmage not a woman but am a "minority" at least by society's standards. I wholeheartedly disagree that anime isnt able to be enjoyed by the female population. There are plenty of naruto fans and plenty of [insert anime here] fans who are female. Sure some anime star strong male leads and have the cliche submissive female surroundings them. Gender shouldnt be the sole reason you cant relate to something. For example i relate to watamote. Anime about a socially awkward girl just trying to fit in, be popular and not be lonely. Female protagonist. Male relating to it. Not to mention the moeblob anime littered through every season. There are even manga where there are women stalkers, or women involved in harems and such. Surr we dont see many non-white characters. But anime is for the japanese. Primarily white, you get gals sure but thats still more japanese. On the topic of Re:Zero tho https://i.pinimg.com/originals/a2/88/70/a28870153796add64b520b1e563e5b4b.jpg I would love to find a female who loves Re:zero as much as i do. Idk if its too shonen that the typical girly girl doesnt like it but its honestly a master piece and half of these shitty anime cant compare. I can probably count anime on one hand that has the sort of depth this anime has.

I enjoy anime. ... of ALL TYPES. I'm also not sick of Isekai. Seems like the entire argument is dragging identity politics into anime. It was bound to happen I guess since the comic book industry is being trashed by it. Manga and Anime should be fun, and an escape. Can we please not fuck it up with identity politics? 15 mins into 1st vid. I'll add more. Skipping re zero part because potential spoilers. So far her entire argument sounds like a her problem. She could take a break from anime, maybe support the creators via Manga? Maybe she's over exposed to anime and should explore other hobbies and interests. I agree with 1 thing: 12 Kingdoms needs a do-over. It was great but it is dated.

I can only like shounen anime and some seinen. I cannot see isekai without associating it with harem. But I still hate both. Overlord is a fucking exception in the isekai genre. The main reason I dislike isekai is because it caters (for the most part, it isn't a one-liner) people who are tired of the real world. It is just a projection of the viewer. It doesn't help that most isekai I have watched has some harem elements on them... it turns me off. The protagonist generally has a door of a personality and is perverted and the plot generally revolves more around the girls than around them. Konosuba! comes to mind, and I despise it even more than Re:Zero (which most of my "unbearable and shit" opinions are exaggerated, I watched some episodes and it turned me off because Subaru is... a bit strange). That Slime reincarnation anime tho... it might be good. I must still watch it.

I understand that a disproportionally large amount of anime often times have women in supporting roles that have a lack of three demensionality and I generally just avoid those anime. I think all characters need to be well developed so most harem anime just bore me. I think Japanese male writers tend to focus on developing lead male characters while avoiding going in too deep on female characters. I disagree that there is a lack of content for women or that men refuse to watch anime with female protagonists. I mean, Kaguya Sama just came out recently and that anime is packed with quality. If you take out all the trash tier anime, there is about the same level of quality anime both genders can enjoy.

On the other hand, I, as a woman, enjoy harem anime. I got Arc to watch Highschool DXD, not the other way around.

Harems bore me..zzzzz too submissive and girly for my tastes. Even the female lead ones are boring and a lot of the shojo ones too. School one well I'm not in high school so it can be funny at times but too much school not enough adults too much teens and preteens. I tend to go for more of a berserk style one. Action-packed..horror.suspense...thriller and sci fi fantasy etc.

@arc They say Kaguya Sama has also a lot of quality. I must watch it.

I legit think the most cursed and shitty anime I have ever seen or heard of is Kaifuku/Redo of Healer. Like, what in the flying fuck is likeable in this shit? Protagonist is a complete scumbag and his fanboys say his acts are justifiable because the girls fucked him up and his revenge is proportional, beautiful and moral...
