Anime 2018 Summer Season

'Hanebado' Ep. 02 That was all tied up a little too neatly and far too quickly.... Maybe it's just cause I'm a guy? Is that how it works for girls? Does that kind of aggression and anger just switch off like that? I still think this one is only so-so.

Yeah, but cutting things that are important just to rush the story can really ruin it. Personally I think they had a chance for her character to really connect with the people watching it, but they rushed right past it. Then you're left with the dialog feeling forced. I imagine the authors original version was probably better. And you're right, there's a lot that gets left on the editing room floor. But that very thing can decisively be what makes or breaks a story.

'Kyoto Teramachi Sanjou no Holmes' Ep. 01 (Holmes at Kyoto Teramachi Sanjo) https://myanimelist.cdn-dena.com/images/anime/1304/92930.jpg Synopsis: Based on mystery novels written by Mochizuki Mai. There is an antique shop in Kyoto's Teramachi Sanjou shopping district. High school girl Mashiro Aoi unexpectedly runs into Yagashira Kiyotaka, the son of the shop's owner, and ends up working part-time at the shop. Kiyotaka is called the "Holmes at Teramachi Sanjou," and he and Aoi solve odd cases brought to them by various clients. _________________________________ When I started this one I wasn't really expecting much, but it was actually fairly cute and nicely done. And by cute I mean the main heroine and the overall aura she creates for the show. But, even though I say that, the foreshadowing of the soon to enter villain may change that. Personally I'm a sucker for these kind of characters, so I think I'll have to watch this one a bit more.

'Jashin-chan Dropkick' Ep. 01 https://myanimelist.cdn-dena.com/images/anime/1822/93150.jpg Synopsis: Jashin-chan Dropkick is a violent slapstic comedy about a delusional gothic lolita, Yurine, who summons a demon girl with the tail of a cobra, Jashin-chan. They'll have to live together until Yurine finds a way to send Jashin-chan back to hell, or until Jashin-chan kills Yurine. ______________________________________ I should have read the synopsis first. It started out fairly cute, I wasn't prepared for the sudden violence. That was rather brutal.

Well... I mean, there's a chainsaw in the image. I would assume it's a wee bit violent. How brutal was it? I haven't seen it just yet.
