What Cliche in Anime you mostly hate?

You know, I keep seeing stuff like "too much fanservice" being listed. I never quite understood why that's something that irks so many people who watch anime no matter how long they've been watching anime or how much anime or manga they've seen and/or read. I mean you'd think people would just accept that it's something that's not going away anytime soon. Japanese fans enjoy it, and they're the target audience. The opinions of filthy gaijin hold zero weight, so you guys better start enjoying superior nippon animated tits, folded over one thousand times. :v But yeah all jokes aside, that sort of stuff never really bothered me much personally. I remember when the Keijo anime adaption came out like uhhh...2 years ago I think, so many people were rolling their eyes at it like it was the absolute pinnacle of garbage while I thought it was hilarious and enjoyed it a lot more than other anime that was airing that season, it was just so dumb and over the top with the fanservice that it was actually the most fun I had watching an anime in a long time. I've also seen people who completely refuse to watch the Monogatari series because of the fanservice and that alone...Which I always thought was kind of a shame because I really enjoyed the Monogatari series a lot. The characters were all interesting and fleshed out in ways that got me attached to pretty much everyone in some way. There really wasn't a single character in that series that I actually disliked...Maybe Sengoku now that I think about it, but just a little. :u

The TOPIC of the forum is what cliché in anime you mostly hate. I think you misunderstood what the forum was about. No, people don't think the clichés they listed are going to go away just because they posted them here. And just because you love fan service doesn't mean you should discredit other peoples comments. It's clear you don't have children... Recently I've noticed in a lot of the anime directed and young children, that there's been a big increase in random and inappropriate fan service. A show directed at an audience under 14 doesn't need it. It doesn't add to the story. It's just the authors own loli perversions. That's something that should never be encouraged. I have 5 nieces. And as much as I'd love to let them watch some of the anime directed at their age level, I can't because I don't want to expose them to that kind of perverted content. "Ryuuou no Oshigoto!" This is clearly a show for a younger audience seeing how all but 1 or 2 are loli characters. Watch the first episode and tell me if you feel the fan service is appropriate. " But you're right. If you consider just how many of the Japanese manga artist are porn addicted virgins and pedophiles. No it's never going to go away.

The worst offender imo is the lack of characterisation on anime protags. I wish they'd spend more than 2 second on designing them mostly. I know about self insert and all that jazz... but this is still an anime. You're imagination can only take you so far regardless.

I...wasn't discrediting anyone and I didn't say I "loved" fanservice, just that I'm not bothered much by it and didn't understand why so much people hate it so much. I was just sharing an observation. Though I see you're very liberal with your assumptions about me based on your interpretation of my post. I'm sure you're very fun at parties. :v I mean I happen to have two nieces and two nephews myself. Hell I spent most of my teenage years babysitting them since their parents worked so I'm not inexperienced with children at all. But yes, I don't have children. But if I was a parent I'd rather let my children build their own views and experiences (with some guidance where needed of course) instead of trying to dictate what's good and not good for them based off of my own personal views, though of course there would be things where even I draw the line...Just, fanservice in anime that my kids may or may not watch probably wouldn't be one of those things. But to each their own I guess, my entire objective with that post was to gain insight on what people dislike so much about fanservice. And you gave me your reasoning so far, I wasn't that much of a fan of the tone of your reply though. Though one other thing: You'd be surprised at how many Japanese manga artists who draw lewd fanservice-filled manga or straight up erotic manga are actually female, hell the author of Kodomo no Jikan is a woman. It isn't just an industry filled with "porn addicted virgins and pedophiles" that's a pretty harsh generalization. I guess now this whole thing has inspired another thing I'm curious about now: how do you even bear to watch anime at all anymore if you see things this way? You obviously have some pretty strong views there. :v

All these awesome girls falling inlove with this one useless guy. Seriously.

" I hate animes where the main protagonist's love interest is head over heels and can't think for herself" "I hate the entire ecchi harem romance genre when its a dumb guy who cant even put his own panties on the right way" "Average men always getting the good looking, popular girl." "The "I'm so cool but have no personality, yet I'm in a harem" trope/cliche" And the above comment ^^^^ Noticing a theme here :3 I guess it's obvious that these no-personality having protags are just self-inserts for lonely boys who want to have a bunch of women into them. And the diverse cast of female personalities in said harems are there to appeal to varying tastes so that every type of lonely boy gets his waifu fix. Who knew hormonal boy wish fulfillment could ruffle so many feathers xD Anyway, what cliche really bugs me is the "whose the protagonist" look that MCs have. It is so goddamn vexing when a character looks like they straight up don't belong in the story. Where it's obvious that for better or worse more thought went into the look of the MC than any other character in the story. It actually probably bothers me more than it should but...just look okay https://cdn.anisearch.de/images/anime/screen/6/6066/full/185448.jpg http://goboiano.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Magi-The-Labyrinth-of-Magic.jpg https://78.media.tumblr.com/1f5990d7fdf09ba4f1b257471692fa86/tumblr_mg73v7JA5c1qmsqu7o1_500.jpg https://i.imgur.com/X36onKz.jpg https://static.fjcdn.com/pictures/Spot+the+main+character+i+wonder+who+it+could_6f5d3b_4553221.jpg That and cut corners in animation. I just dislike the lack of consistency. It's yet another reason why I really enjoy Hajime no Ippo. Each of the characters have a unique look and feel but at the same time it's all grounded in the same style and general tone. They look like they all belong in the same world.

I hate the girl beating up the guy because he makes an honest mistake. That annoys the shit out of me and isn't funny anymore.
kameiya
Agreed CAC. That to me is a bully that shouldn't be valued. It's one thing if they playfully git each other in good heart. But to beat the crud out of the guy? That's a bully. That act should only be accepted in fight scenes and self defense. I stopped watching shaman king cuz they brought in a girl who was cold, brutal, and mistreated the boys and the spirit. Making it known she wanted to marry him just for the Stat of being queen to the king. Two episodes in with that girl I lost all interest. Which is a shame cuz I was really enjoying the Anime cuz it was interesting. Bad characters that are supposed to be the good characters ruins the show for me.
