Anime Winter Season 2017/2018

'Killing Bites' Hmm... Well there's lots of furry fan service. It wasn't terrible, but it was pretty out there with how exaggerated their abilities were. It had some funny and interesting part, but that ending was pretty asshole-ish on every level. Not that most of them weren't deserving of it. If you like exaggerated fighting and animal girls, you may like it.

'Sora yori mo Tooi Basho' After watching the actual final episode, I'd still say the same about it. I think they should have stopped at 12 episodes, but the 13th episode wrapped it all up for you so you didn't feel things were unresolved. Still was a decent show for such a unique slice of life anime.

But, uh. What is everyone's thoughts on the two recap episodes for Beatless, which-- Basically are fillers. That, y'know. Naruto is basically infamous for. Mostly, mainstream anime uses these type of episodes. Not only was it a recap, it was a recap of a whole 20+ minutes. TWICE.

Yeah, that is in bad taste. Naruto spans literally hundreds of episodes and has dozens of arcs. But to recap when there hasn't even been a full season is simply lazy. One piece is another notorious offender of recaps, as they waste the first 5 minutes of every episode.

'Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku' I kind of cringe having to review this one. I watched it because it was another "Trapped in a game world" type anime. They took a pretty good approach to and for the most part I enjoyed watching it. I'd totally recommend it "if" it wasn't for one sad fact. It was definitely your typical harem anime. They pretended to make the main character act all noble about it, but that's exactly what it was. Also the plot scenarios left a lot to be desired. It was a good premise for an anime, but it needed work.... and harem *sigh* <_<

Oh god, let's not even begin about Death March. How about.. Violet Evergarden.

Beatless Grandcrest Senki Darling in the Franxx Toji no Miko Will all be continuing into the next season, with a few others. --- 'Beatless' Normally I like anime about AI, but the plot is too much of a stretch. It has some serious plot holes and it's a bit transparent. It feels like they over did the foreshadowing, instead of just blindsiding everybody with a good plot twist. Unless they're intentionally leading people to expect a plot twist when really there won't be. Either way it's still cliché. --- 'Grancrest Senki' At first I like this show it was pretty interesting. It still is I suppose, but that betrayal. It leaves me with a lingering bad feeling even after watching. From a plot perspective, it definitely adds to the drama. But it leaves such a bad impression on the audience, or maybe it's just me. I'll keep watching cause I wanting and waiting for that person to get their ass kicked before it's over.

Violet Evergarden still has one more episode. But other than one majorly bad episode, the rest of the show was really good. This last episode left a lot to be desired with the dialogue. But over all it's been a pretty good story.

Great, as expected. How about.. Overlord II and Basilisk: Ouka Ninpouchou? Is there also anything you recommend outside of this season? I'm looking for thibgs I haven't heard of, probably have seen the name of but didn't dare try.

'Darling in the Franxx' This is a pretty messed up premise for an Mecha anime but so far they've done a decent job of it. It does have a bit of a slice of life feel to it despite the plot scenario. --- 'Toji no Miko' This one has been typical of girl fighting invaders from another universe. It's been done to death and this one isn't very different from the rest. It's got more than it's share of clichés. Not really sure if this story justifies a second season.
