Psycho-Pass - keep it going!

Tokano couldn't believe she'd been lumped with the new kid; what was he? Twenty? Maybe a little older, but he whined like a teenager. He shuffled in his seat, tapped his feet, fiddled with the ashtray, and then he started to talk. Tokano closed her hazel eyes momentarily and held back a sigh of her own as the young man with messy dyed red hair held up his hands and awaited her response with a sheepish expression. "So far all we know is that a rave got out of hand. The Psychotics are quite popular right now, especially since the riots in Tokyo, so whenever they set up a concert a huge crowd gathers...Three or four fights broke out, so it's down to us to clean it up." She replied finally, the redhead lowering his hands and returning to his previous reclined position, his knees looking uncomfortably bent. He hadn't seemed so tall outside the car, but now that he was sitting down..."There's a dial on the side; you can move the seat back." She added finally as she returned her full attention to the road, missing the chocolate eyes of the boy shift towards her.

Rei's eyes flickered in surprise at the unexpectedly kind comment. Leaning down a little, he let his hand slip down the side of the seat to the dial. Snapping it into release he pushed back and felt the seat glide, giving him the extra leg room he required. "Thanks." He replied courteously, not missing Tokano's nod as she continued to drive. "Huh? What's that?" Rei asked, perplexed. Tokano could see it too; a large crowd blocking the street ahead. They weren't anywhere near the rave yet; they were still at the edge of town. Rei raised his scanner and checked the area; the stress level was creeping up, but why? "I'm pulling over." Tokano decided, hearing no objection from her young charge as she slowed to a halt. As she climbed out of the vehicle she could hear the crowd's stunned chatter as they stood before the apartment block, their eyes turned upwards. "Just what we didn't need right now..." Tokano sighed as she pulled out her radio to report. Rei ambled round the car and leaned back, looking up to the roof, where a woman stood at the edge. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked at the world below. "Think she'll jump?" Rei asked.

Tokano shifted her gaze to the young man at her side. Although his tone had sounded disinterested at first she couldn't help but catch the slight undertone of sympathy. She really couldn't say as she watched Rei raise his scanner at the woman, who was way up on the sixth or seventh floor. She wasn't at a huge threat level, but she was stressed enough to need therapy. "What are you thinking?" Tokano asked as she watched the enforcer sigh. "Honestly? I'm wondering if it would be better to let her jump." He replied, tossing the scanner to her as he slipped his hands into his pockets. "Don't worry Inspector, I'm not a psychopath. I'll get her down." He added as he walked away, the woman following him quickly. "You should await orders before making a move yourself." She chided, though honestly he was making the right call. They couldn't leave her; her death would increase the area stress level, and more to the point she was a vulnerable citizen who needed their help.
