Steampunk cons are pretty fantastic. There's usually a ball with people who actually know how to dance, the dealers' room isn't rife with cartoon porn and is instead full to the brim with gears and gadgetry and steampunk-modded awesomeness, and the panels are extremely informative and useful! That was the case with Twisted Gears, at any rate.
I've found that a lot of cons I've been to lately have been really lacking in steampunk material, so to attend a con that was steampunk and nothing but was like a breath of fresh air.

Marquis of Vaudeville is a band in Texas that's pretty awesome. The vocalist does an awesome David Bowie impression.
Yesterday I attended Twisted Gears. It was a lot of fun and the panel was a passable success! I got a free gun out of it, too.
