I bet your family would like it, Naruto kind of has something for everybody which is cool c: Oh wow, you're way ahead of me, I'm on about episode 200 of Shippuden since that's what's out for the DVD here xD I know what you mean, I hate waiting for the next season to be released D: It was so much more fun when you first start and there's so much to watch it's almost endless...until you catch up >.< haha it can be so hard to wait, especially when spoilers from the manga are floating everywhere

i started the manga then switched to the anime because I really love the voices and the animation c: also I got my family into it so it's easier for us all to watch it haha but I'm only caught up to the american anime release, which is way behind the Japanese one of course. Are you very far into the anime?
