I couldn't tell you how many kanji I've got since I'm not using any specific lists or anything, but I know quite a few by now. Since monotonous study kills me inside I've been immersing and learning on the go, now finding myself able to read through multiple sentences in games or manga at a time without needing to search up words. But still, new unknown kanji show up all the time. A funny side effect of this is that I know how to read words like "回避" and "魔力" while not knowing the kanji for "wall". lol But it is the method that keeps me motivated, so that's what I'm working with. Out of curiosity, for what purpose are you learning japanese?

I see. Usually I only read and listen to it, but that's already plenty helpful. Besides acquiring vocabulary by reading stuff you like, the brain eventually connects the dots of grammar and natural ways of expression start to become possible with low effort. Though once you reach that level it's probably necessary to jump into real time conversation in order to keep growing.
