I grew up, decided I didn't want to pursue that career in foreign relations and went back to school to draw cartoons. I like oddity, kitsch, and fun. I prefer trying out new recipes at home to going out, have driven multiple days to see a ballet with costumes and set designs by Maurice Sendak (totally worth it), and am equally comfortable staying in playing MarioKart as going to the Getty to check out the latest exhibit.
I like geeks and geek culture. I feel it best aligns with what I like and how I am. I don't understand the need to be judgemental of people's interests or to place so much emphasis on the degrees of someone's fandom. It's all subjective and born from positivity. Love what you like and never question yourself. That said, I dabble in a lot of different things from anime to sci-fi and fantasy to video and board games. I'm a creative type, working professionally in animation, but also working on writing and game design on the side among other hobbies. I don't limit myself to anime exclusively, but it is what started me down this path.
Although the pandemic has given me a unique opportunity to catch up on my Netflix queue and gaming, I do miss being able to get out and interact with other people. I love animals and like opportunities to visit parks and zoos. I miss the regular trips to Little Tokyo, Disneyland, and Universal. I try to get out when I can and LA offers a lot of unique experiences that I enjoy.
