I only know English but I would absolutely LOVE to learn Khmer. My mom is a Cambodian immigrant who has been in the states for 40+ years so she's fluent in both Khmer and English (although she still has a rather apparent accent). My dad is American going back many generations (there's some Native American, Irish and German way back, but nothing close enough for any of my paternal living relatives to know a language other than English). I unfortunately wasn't taught Khmer growing up though. I know a handful of phrases but nothing particularly substantial. My mom was focused on assimilating herself and her family into American society so she didn't prioritize teaching her children Khmer. (Wish she had. Would've been a much easier transition to grow up naturally bilingual, rather than learning it in it's entirety in my adult life). Since I'm rather exclusive to English I never really held a conversation with my maternal great-aunt (she adopted my mother so she's referred to as Grandma/Yiey but technically isn't). I wish I knew Khmer and could have had a conversation with her. She passed away a couple years ago.

Proud Beast - Ah, Fushigi Yuugi, what a wonderful story. I can't believe I was watching it for the first time 11 years ago. I've been trying to find the time to rewatch the entire series with my fiance (who's never seen it before) but we haven't yet. kittie_saya Thanks for the congrats! Glad to know I'm not the only new one here. Some of my favorite anime are; Fushigi Yuugi, Shoujo Kakumei Utena and Sailor Moon. Manga favorites include Peach Girl, Cardcaptor Sakura, Azumanga Daihou, Sailor Moon, Mars and Paradise Kiss (and Neighborhood Story, come to think of it). I'm ridiculously excited at the rerelease of the Sailor Moon manga and the upcoming new anime! And oh my God, unlike a lot of people my age I didn't watch it in my small childhood [(I was around 6th grade when I started watching episodes here in there via the library. Never really did see the thing in it's entirety)], so I never got my hands on much merchandise. But by God, all this new merchandise coming out I've done all I can to own as much of it as possible. And it is GLORIOUS.
