Well, I'd say the first step was to get one. :P They can be pretty expensive though. You'd probably need to get lessons, as the bowing stuff is complex. If you know a cellist, you could probably bully them into teaching you it though. :P

Not your sort of band as in it's a rock band, or as in it's too fluffy? I play most of the instruments in K-ON!, so one thing I was impressed by was the accuracy in the manga, such as when Yui, the new girl, is warned/told off for unplugging her cable before muting her amp. In the manga, the guitars were always plugged in, too. I think things were a little more lax in the anime. I have recently picked up recorder, and I've been playing ocarina sort of casually for a while, and I think that helped me appreciate Hibike! more. My girlfriend is a flautist, so I guess I learned a bit from her too. I was also exposed to brass and reed instruments while I was studying contemporary music, because we were kind of an offshoot or remix of the jazz course, and we interacted a little. I wouldn't mind checking out La Corda d'Oro. I do like stringed instruments. I got to play a friend's cello once, which was pretty cool. I was only any good at pizzacato though. I have too much anime I'm planning to watch at the moment, so I'll have to try and keep it in mind for when I run out. What did you play in your marching band?

You would. What's wrong with people? There isn't a second, at least, not yet. I don't know if there will be, but I really hope there will! I feel like that setance is poorly constructed but I can't work out why... Better try and get more sleep. :\ To be honest, I don't think anything will ever replace K-ON! as my favourite band anime, but they're really quite different. Hibike! is definitely one of the best anime I've ever seen. There's so much to praise about it.

I really want to find an excuse to say, 'Can't let you do that, Star Fox,' but i feel like you probably get that a lot. Please let me know what you think of Hibike! Euphonium when you finish it.. I think it said in progress.
