Wakasashi for my otaku buddy
Kopis made using only "recycled" shop scraps. (I made it from junk)
Just doing swordsmith stuff...
Today I made mokume rings, mokume is a metal made in the feudal Japanese era for sword fittings, it was similar to what is known as Damascus, or a single bar of steel made out of multiple different types worked in such a way it creates a pattern on the final products blade. This particular piece of mokume is made out of alternating bands of copper and nickel, the pieces of metal are stacked on top of each other and then welded together through heat and pressure, after a bar with straight lines as form is chopped in half and twisted and opposite directions, then the two bars are placed perpendicular to each other and welded once more, that process is what makes the feather pattern.
