Family and friends throw parties for each other. Your under the false assumption that companies are there to be your friends. Companies are not your friends. Companies are there to maximize profit. Companies will replace pretty much anyone to maximize profit. Hence why I bet my bottom dollar that your manger will be replaced real quick. That's how capitalism works. This may sound cruel, but I don't care. Your manager was paid for his work. It was a 20 year voluntary exchange for labor. Quite frankly, the company doesn't owe him anything. And vice versa.
