Anyone on here other than me that remembers what games were like before the 8 bit generation?

Good ol' 2bit generation? Text and ASCII games I assume?

Those and the PC games before the 8 Bit Nintendo. I read a user submitted article in Game Informer where the user mentioned feeling old when remembering his old DS games. It made me laugh when I read it so I thought I would see who else remembered the true old days of video games.

Well, the NES came out in the States in 1985, so I'm assuming that he's referring to first- and second-generation consoles like the 2600. I was born in 1974; I had an Odyssey 2 and a 2600 myself. :) And I do fondly remember a lot of the early Apple II games and monochrome-era PC games, as well as all the text- and ANSI-based BBS door games like TradeWars 2002, SRE, LORD, etc. In fact when I was in high school I made a decent living writing shareware add-ons for TW2002.

I am only 21, but my first console was an Atari 2600, and I played a lot of DOS games when I was a child. Most of my hardware was scavenged, so I guess you could say I was behind on the times. I regret none of it; it gave me an appreciation for newer hardware that people that for granted in this generation.
