RACISM

I apologize for being off topic again, but I went to an interview the other day at a grocery store and despite having a crap load of experience, dressed business casual, and being respectful to everyone. I got rejected. I never like using the race card when it comes to things like that, but the gentleman hosting the interview was african american and so was everyone else that worked there. He gave me alot of attitude when I was telling him about my work history. There was another guy who happened to be african american at the interview who was playing yugioh on his phone while the interview host was asking us all questions. The interview host was as nice as he could be to him. The guy playing yugioh got further into the hiring process than I did. The next week I show up to buy groceries and I see him collecting baskets outside and working. The reason I said that is racial prejudice happens to everyone not just to African Americans. I really hate using racial terms. Usually I just say "that guy", "man", "sir","gentleman", and well you get the idea.

ok, perfect, for the sake of argument, let's call that guy who rejected you racist. I have zero clue what playing on his phone has to do with the hiring process, but ok. Let's pretend that the hiring manager... let's call him Bob. Bob, even tho he saw you being as professional as can be and saw "Jake" playing on his phone the entire time decides to hire "Jake" instead of you and, in fact, hired him because he was black and didn't hire you cause you're not black, what do we do with Bob?

Also, did you really wanna be outside collecting baskets? Maybe he didn't have a position worthy of you and only had some manual labor and he decided to make "Jake" stay off his phone by having to be outside in this cold ass weather, getting shopping carts. I dunno. Just an opinion. It may have been the only position he needed to fill.

I wouldn't say Bob was racist. Pre-assuming of me perhaps, but not racist from what I saw. Short fused towards me at most. I will just thank him for interviewing me and go on with my life. Like how I did irl. I just think it sucks that people get categorized for what skin color they have and lose opportunities. That goes for everyone. Edit: And the bagger position we were all applying for includes cart collecting outside as part of the job description. Sorry for that mispelling lol

Really wish someone would answer my question Thank you for answering, Solid

Ok, Why would you say that he's not racist? Again, not saying you're right or wrong. I simply want to know why you think the way you do.

He didn't seem racist, because if he was he would have publicly shamed me during the interview, insulted me, called me a racial slur, and basically anything that makes me feel belittled in society. I apologized if I seemed against him. I was just proving a point about racial prejudice happening to everyone. Yes there are way worse ways for prejudice to occur towards someone, but I wanted to state a personal experience to create a scenario.

And your welcome ^.^
kichigai913
ok. Now, I CAN rebuttal that scenario and say that "Bob" wasn't being racist for any sort of reasons but I'm not. Mainly cause it would only be an opinion and we can't prove either situation so fuck it. You moved past it. (glad to hear btw) so fuck it Are You telling me that you believe a racist only belittles you in public or call you names or insults you? To you, is there a difference between racist & prejudice?
