Guns - Debate and Education

I'd prefer to find some definitive legal citation on this but I keep finding "assault weapons" instead

Yeah its a ludicrous concept and I kept running into it on accident. Challenge: google "assault rifle" or "assault rifle regulation" and see what happens .... (spoiler alert you will get more information on ficticious assault weapons) I see nobodys up for a serious discussion....I expected much dissent but havent really heard a peep from the gun control crowd. I do invite anti gunners in. Hell maybe I'll just rant on and just become a defacto 2nd Amendment educator

I'll take this time to go over some common gun (law) related myths and propaganda that scare people into believing that guns are bad and should either be heavily restricted or banned altogether. It can certainly be argued that there isn't a damn thing in America today more smear campaigned against and the victim of ignorant propaganda than guns. Most of the reasons anti-gun people don't like guns or want to restrict them are based on paranoia or ignorance (or both). (here is an article that goes over most of what is below in better detail than myself https://people.duke.edu/~gnsmith/articles/myths.htm ) 1. When has a "good guy with a gun" ever stopped anyone or improved the situation? There is a smear campaign by gun control advocates / anti-gun lobby against everyday people helping themselves and others. In areas where guns are allowed people have defended themselves plenty of times and greatly improved the situation. However, since that means a reduced body count and guns being used for good the media will either ignore it or give it very little coverage. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/425802/look-facts-gun-free-zones-john-lott - an article detailing the anti-gun propaganda and giving several examples of "good guys (and girls) with guns" saving the day (or minimizing the damage) 2. Mass shooters are going to shoot wherever and they don't look for "soft targets" like "gun free zones" For various reasons mass shooters are looking for a body count and they are more likely to attack soft targets like colleges and schools or other places where guns are forbidden. I don't often go to statistical data but it is noteworthy that a overwhelming majority of mass shootings happen in those lovely gun free zones. http://crimeresearch.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Screen-Shot-2016-07-10-at-Sunday-July-10-12.52-PM.png http://crimeresearch.org/2014/09/more-misleading-information-from-bloombergs-everytown-for-gun-safety-on-guns-analysis-of-recent-mass-shootings/ (article where I got the above information from and provides further detail) 3. Gun Control Laws save lives There is data to suggest that the only laws that make a difference in saving lives are....... drum roll please....RIGHT TO CARRY LAWS. One of the best cities in America (now) Kennesaw, Georgia actually has a law requiring heads of household to have a gun in the house .... what do you want to wager that things such as burglaries and trespass are down? 4. People who want conceal and carry permits are bad and violent people The percentage of conceal and carry permit holders who break the law with their guns is so exceeding and overwhelmingly rare this myth of the permit holding criminal almost has no basis in reality. I've seen data to suggest that LESS THAN ONE PERCENT of permit holders use their guns illegally and there is data to suggest that conceal and carry permit holders are the most law abiding group of people in America (even more law abiding than the police themselves). If I can find the information on the less than 1% I shall link it here. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2814691 Think about it would someone who wanted to do something horrible with the gun they are buying (assuming they even acquire them legally) bother to apply for a permit or would they just carry it around until they decide to open fire? A law abiding citizen will but will someone with criminal intent in their heart and minds? The answer here is a clear and resounding no. 5. "We don't want to take your guns away" Bull fucking shit - maybe not every gun control advocate believes this but enough do and enough are in positions to make it happen that us pro-gun people must be actively aware at all times against this. Obama himself has spoken highly on the gun laws of Great Britain and Australia..... 6. It is too easy to legally obtain a gun (going grocery shopping is a more difficult task) Really? It may not be difficult for the law abiding citizen with a clean record but it isn't easy (especially if you want automatic weapons) and it certainly isn't cheap. You do have to in fact undergo a background check and if you want your permit to conceal and carry another background check and investigation is required. 7. Gun free zones are safer places than anywhere else Yeah if you're a mass shooter or the President with the secret service. You know as a gun owner if I wanted to shoot quite a few people and saw a "gun free zone" sign.... I would sulk and turn around ... libtard logic there (for the record I do not have plans on going on a shooting spree of even one person .. because there is always that one person) In realty gun free zones are resistance free zones - TRUTH

Chosen Otaku please if you will elaborate on Swiss mentality. Yhavent - if I may ask why not? Guns are inherently dangerous objects and I respect those who fear that danger.
