That Baby pressure

I get this all the time. Like seriously. Even my younger sister is starting to say she needs a nephew/niece. In fact, when I thought about going to college in Japan, rather than asking about schools or whatever, my mom was like, "Japanese babies are cute too!" sigh...

I don't feel the pressure at all but my father once brought it up about of nowhere a good ways back. My father is a bit like me, a loner; or should I say I'm a bit like him. Anyways, I was over my folks' place visiting and during a cup of coffee my father brought up the notion that I HAVE to have kids. That I'll need to carry the family name. I was like "where is this coming from?!". He barely even notices when I'm dating or seeing someone seriously. My father has never shown any interest in my love affairs nor has he ever consoled me about anything involving relationships besides wrapping my junk so I don't catch a STD or have an unwanted/unplanned pregnancy. (One of the best pieces of advice your parent(s) can give you). My father said something to the affect of: "hey, you're at that age where you should have been married already with a child(ren), blah, blah, blah...". At the time I told him I'm not interested in having a child(ren) nor am I'm involved with someone anymore (at that time I recently had a break up). My parents where very young when they got married and started a family and I can attest how it was a struggle in so many ways. I vowed to myself that I wouldn't get married until I'm working a good career with financial security or a sugar mama wants me or I'm to be the "stay home parent" (that'll actually give me time to work on my craft). I also don't want a child(ren) with someone who'd I couldn't stand or can't be friends with. Minimally they have to be best friend material. Right now I don't have anyone special in my life and I enjoy the freedom that I have - that I could just pack a bag and head on out on an adventure; like now with me being in Japan for 3 months. A lot of my friends are coupled/married and most of them have kids now. It's still feels strange getting used to how they are all hitched and some with kids. Still blows my mind from time-to-time. I dunno if I'd get used to it but I'm sure I will if/when I become a parent. However that'll be a challenge in itself because most relationship candidates absolutely don't deserve me. I do agree though that having my other family members getting married and spawning a child(ren) is taking the heat off me. Don't let you're folks or other dictate what you should do. That's up to you and you're significant other to decide.

I don't really get the pressure from anyone in having a child, but in reality, I'm the one pressuring myself that wants a child. I was in a marriage for three years with my ex husband and this year we did planned to have a baby because I was having baby fever. Thankfully we separated through private circumstances with no child, but I was really looking forward in having a child of my own... I'm Turning 27 this year and have matured through all these years and have looked up to anime fan moms whom have been doing a wonderful job in parenting and introducing their children in the anime community. I love children and I do hope to have my own someday. I am working to become a teacher so that really helps get the motherly feeling out of me. I do hope to find a potential partner that will want to have a child with me whether through paternity, surrogacy, or adoption. :)

What the heck!? You and Khadrian haven't even reached your quarter-life crisis yet!!!... My mom expects everything from my brother but nothing from me so that's cool (#LAUGHTRACK). That and I'm pretty sure I don't want kids at this point. I'd only reconsider if my partner really wanted to, but I see no benefit from it. That may seem cold but yeah, I have... anime to watch (#WOMP) (but in actuality I'm more interested in achieving my dreams!) On a more serious note, why can't parents see that having children basically means your life is over and you have to change someone else's diaper for the next 20 years? It's like "Okay mom you've already fucked up with me now you wanna see history repeat itself?!" ("Hey, c'mon Shy") NO!!! Uhh wait, where am I going with this? (#WOMP) Like others have said, just take your time! Once you're an adult, you don't have to listen to mommmy and daddy anymore! (unless you still live with them in which case--#LAUGHTRACK) @Yuusaku: "or a sugar mama wants me" I'm not gonna lie... I'M TOTALLY HOPING FOR THIS TOO!!! (#womp) I can work on my manga and anime projects while my waifu buys the latest anime figurines and Nintendo consoles, and triple-XXL anime t-shirts~ (っ^ω^c)tee hee~ Anyway, hope for the best for all you guys and gals!

@Shytaku I definitely want to be in a position where I've figured myself out before having a kid, but I'm also willing to drop whatever it is that I'm not doing with my life right now given the opportunity. I've always wanted a kid, but I never want there to ever be a situation where I can't help them do whatever it is that they decide they want to do, and I'm just not at that point in my life right now. Of course I've always thought I was more of a stay at home kind of dad anyway, so maybe their mom will be the bread winner, and I'll wear my sexy apron while taking care of all the house stuff XD

My mom constantly pressures me to give her grandkids, but I'm still holding out until I can make genetically altered mutant super babies through science.

While not mutants perhaps there is plenty research into selective gene editing for babies. http://pitjournal.unc.edu/article/prospect-designer-babies-it-inevitable
