Any novelists out there?

freyjafernwood
Not sure if I count as a novelist, but I have mostly written a novel. (I wrote probably 95% of it, it's 119,255 words long.) I want to try publishing it if I can. Anyone else write here?

I mean Idk if I count but I love writing! Haha, the only problem is I always get excited about starting new projects but not finishing them ( ; o ; )

Does it count if you are in the process but have not actually published anything yet?

Yeah, I'd say it counts. Some people insist that you have to finish a story, but you know, I think even if someone hasn't finished yet, they're still an author. Can any of you tell me what your stories are about?

I tend to write dark, violent fantasy stories, I practically finished a novel, but for some reason don't have the guts to finish the last chapter. I think it's because I'm scared of publishers rejecting me... T-T If I finish it I'll feel obligated to send it off, and I don't know if I'm ready for that.

I wouldn't consider myself an author but something closer to the writing equivalent of a concept artist. When it comes to composing prose im pretty mediocre, but im pretty solid when it comes to plot-casting and figuring out the flow of a novel. though tbh my rack time of anime watching has somewhat twisted my methodology of explanation, as now i thing of camera angles, tramsistions and on-screen time as opposed to what a novelist is suppose to consider when projecting an idea into prose. As you can guess im yet to write a single chapter to completion XD And the stories i at least try to write, normally fall under sci-fi/romance genre. to compare to current series, Steins;Gate, Kimi no na wa, Erased. i dont really like violent fantasy, but the kind that are fought with pretty much pure intellectual conflict (Death note eg) is a lot more my production style. but big congrats on nearly finishing that novel, i hope you eventually publish it :)

Pump the brakes. An author is someone that writes as a profession. The modest discussion in here are hobbies. Changing the oil in your car and replacing a flat tire does not mean you're a mechanic. Making an omelette in the morning and a steak for dinner does not mean you're a chef. Staring into the sky at night does not mean you're an astrologer. And drawing pictures in a notebook does not mean you're an artist.

Hardly... Writing is an urge that only lasts a couple minutes for me. So lyrics and poetry are my domain.
