Orginal Fan-Animes and Mangas

So I wanted to talk about people who do their own fan-animes or mangas even if sometimes the art isn't on par with like Japanese animation it's still cool and entertaining to see someone who isn't professional do their own thing. But I wanted to ask something because I been wanting to do a fan-anime or Manga myself not expecting something professional at all but want to draw my characters and explain the story.. I Had an idea for a manga or fananime since along time ago like 2000 something and it was kinda unique but somehow someone ended up coming up with the similar kind of aspect of it not the whole story is the same just a really important part of it is the same and now I'm like afraid if I were to try to make my fananime or manga people will tell me I tried to rip this person off or something.. :c Any ideas what I should do? I don't want to abandon my story I worked hard on it for a long time.

I say go for it! Never know what'll happen unless you try! While we're on the subject of fan-animes and mangas, I had an idea for one that I was hoping to get some opinions on, too! Basically, it kind of resembles the typical magical girl anime in that a little girl is chosen as the next magical girl to save the world. The catch; Grandma touches the wand first! Now the little girl has to help grandma fight evil and be sure she doesn't throw her hip in the process! I'll admit, it's an idea that just came to me a few days ago, but I'm thinking it's a good one! But what do you think?

Thanks! And hahah omg that sounds amazing you should do it!! Definitely very unique and that has not been done yet and I think that could make a really good magical girl anime with some comedy in it too! You should do it!

The whole "You ripped off x because y" things is often bullshit imo. A lot of very similar ideas and concepts are almost purely coincidence - just two people with similar ideas, it's a shame that whoever comes first is the one who apparently owns that idea according to people who have no idea how creative processes work. Being a writer at heart who loves to create sprawling worlds filled with lore in my head first and then on paper, I have a lot of different ideas for anime, books, games, movies, etc ranging from sci-fi to fantasy to horror that its almost overwhelming trying to keep track of them all to the point that its common for me to merge three or four different ideas into one thing. I'm quite wary about telling my ideas though because there's a high chance someone will take it and claim it as their own so I'm wondering what to do about that :I
