No, "hi" is a horrible conversation starter. Read their info, and ask a question that requires more than a one word or yes or no response. Hell, start by joking, but the point is to actually start a conversation.

Just keep asking questions xD That's what I do. If they don't like talking about themself talk about something you do or a Hobbie you like.

depends on the gall. well look at what you guys got in common, and go from there. and don't be too forward. ask appropriate questions, and then you should be able to have a decent conversation. Memes can help too XD
