Thoughts on the new Pokemon Series?

I haven't watched Pokemon since the Johto league so I feel somewhat odd giving opinions on something I don't really care about anymore... but I have to agree! I don't like the new style at all and it's obviously a response to Yokai Watch's growing presence (even Pokemon Sun/Moon has a weird Yokai Watch-ish accessory!) (what does it even do?!?!) I guess the anime franchise has been stagnant as of late. I can't find the link anymore but I think Kotaku mentioned how the latest Pokemon movie didn't do too well (or maybe low by Pokemon standards, idk). The positive is that thanks to a goofier/looser style, the animators are able to make more expressive and action-packed scenes. If you check out the trailer, they actually animated Pikachu's fur... I don't think I've ever seen that before! (not in the TV series at least) Hope they keep the Ken Sugimori style for the main-line Pokemon games, cause man... Goof-Troop Ash is just disheartening!

Pokemon Generations looks sick! I loved Pokemon Origins and I'm glad they're doing more animation like this. I stopped caring about the main Pokemon Anime long ago.

I mean, it'd be awesome if one of these seasons they just started with a new cast of main characters, and we find out towards the end of the season that it's like 15 years later and Ash is a top Pokemon trainer. But, Ash and Pikachu is what drives Pokemon so they probably won't ever make him older :(
